How We Met!

1,027 Miles Apart...

It was 2020, the year the world basically ended. Preston had lived in Montana for about five years by then and Brittany was living in Fontana, CA with her older sister Nicole. One of Nicole's great friends from high school, Tiffany, watched Nicole's son a few days a week. Tiffany and her family invited Nicole and her family camping with them in January, out in the desert. Tiffany's parents and her brothers were going, along with some other friends. Although Nicole had been friends with Tiffany for years, she had never met her brothers. One of her brothers was Preston, who happened to be visiting from Montana. At the fire pit, Nicole told Preston he had to meet her sister and showed him Brittany's Instagram profile. Preston took it upon himself to message Brittany, asking if he could take her out for a drink before he went back to Montana in three days... Brittany didn't see the message for ten days. Slowly, Brittany and Preston commented back and forth on social media, which turned into messaging, every day, which turned into talking on the phone and face timing almost every night. Preston eventually invited Brittany to come to Montana to be his date to a wedding. After four months of talking, Brittany decided to go, a plan that her dad was not happy about. Brittany's Dad - "You are going to meet him first right, before going to Montana?" Brittany - "Yes, at the airport." Brittany's Dad - "What?! You can't do that! What if you don't like him? They don't have Ubers in Montana!" Brittany went in June 2020. As she descended the escalator with her suitcase and nerves, she saw him, Cowboy boots on and sunflowers in hand. They both knew they had met their person. After that weekend, Brittany went to Montana two more times, the third time was to move him back to California.

The Proposal!

November 13, 2021

Brittany's friend Sarah is an amazing photographer. She reached out to Brittany asking if she and Preston would be interested in doing a couples photoshoot for her portfolio, because she had a free dress rental. They made the plan, picked the dress (back tulle), picked the location (Sedona, AZ), but things keep happening to push the plans back. Sarah met with Brittany a few months later with revised plans. She found a new dress company she liked, a flower bouquet she had in mind, and the idea of doing the shoot more local to make it easier. It was set. The shoot would be more boho wedding themed in Joshua Tree. Preston and Sarah had never met before, but Preston had some other plans up his sleeves. He reached out to Sarah to talk to her about proposing during the photoshoot. Brittany and Preston got an Airbnb in Joshua Tree to make a weekend out of the photoshoot. Nicole, Brittany's sister came down to do her hair and make up since Brittany thought it would be good exposure for her work (except Nicole knew the plan). Sarah met them at the Airbnb a little before the shoot. Great acting as her and Preston introduced themselves to each other since Brittany was under the impression they had never met. When everyone was ready, Preston drove the three of them to Joshua Tree National Park. Sarah had found a group of ruins she wanted to take the photos at. Once parked, they had to walk a trail for about a half a mile with all their garnet bags and shoes and what not. The photoshoot was great and so fun. So many great photos captured. Brittany ended up declining the second casual look she brought because she wanted to make sure Sarah got enough photos in the dress. In the middle of what seemed to be one of the last shots, Preston went to grab a drink for a quick break. Moments later Sarah said she needed to get another battery. Brittany stayed put because the dress was long. When they both came back, Brittany and Preston went back to posing. He wanted to try a twirling picture like they were dancing. When Brittany completed the turn, she saw him put his hand in his pocket and struggle a minute, He pulled out a box and got down on one knee. Brittany instantly started to cry, sobbing really. All Preston could manage to get out was, "I love you so much. Will you marry me?". To which Brittany could only reply, "Wait, like for real?" Champagne came next. It was pure magic. Perfect, intimate, and captured beautifully,
