FAQs

We've attempted to answer any questions you may have about travel, acommodation and logistics below. If there is anything we have missed or anything is unclear, feel free to call, text or whatsapp. Brittany: +1 (203)-807-1659 | Marc: +1 (646)-884-3576
Question

What are the Covid restrictions and testing requirements?

Answer

For those traveling from the UK, you will need to get tested before entering the USA. As of 19th April, foreign travelers must provide proof of (full) vaccination and a negative lateral flow (video certified) or PCR test, taken no earlier than one day before travel. We recommend buying tests and a video appointment with qured.com a few weeks before travel, for the day before travel. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html At time of writing (19th April), there are no testing requirements for entering the UK, before or after travel.

Question

Will Covid affect the wedding?

Answer

No. Florida has been fully open since June 2020 and the Governor has made it clear there will be no more restrictions in place. Some venues may require masks but our wedding largely takes place outside. We recommend that you select the free-cancellation option for any accommodation bookings (available on VRBO and Booking.com) and add travel insurance to your flight bookings (just in case).

Question

Can we bring our children?

Answer

Children are welcome at our wedding ceremony and reception. However, due to number limits for the welcome drinks this event will be 21+ only.

Question

Am I invited to all events?

Answer

When RSVP'ing on this website, it should be clear what events you and your group are invited to. The Rehearsal Dinner is limited only to close family and wedding party. Welcome drinks are restricted to 21+. Marc's Bachelor Boat Party is limited to close (male) family and friends. Once you enter the lead name on your invite you can view all the events that you are invited to and RSVP for each member of your party.

Question

What dates do you recommend we travel?

Answer

We will be staying in St. Augustine two weeks before and until the Tuesday after our wedding day. You are welcome anytime, but we'd recommend arriving by the Tuesday (31st May) or Wednesday (1st June) before the wedding. Official events begin on the Thursday.

Question

What is the nearest airport to St. Augustine?

Answer

Jacksonville (JAX) is the nearest airport to St. Augustine and is an hour to the north. It has less direct flights from the UK so Orlando (MCO) may be more convenient and cost-effective. Orlando is a 90-minute drive.

Question

What area should we stay in?

Answer

This depends on your preference. We prefer to stay on St. Augustine Beach as you have the beach on your doorstep, pools and a laid back atmosphere. However, those who prefer a more cultural trip or are coming for the weekend only may opt for an Inn in the downtown area. Britt and Marc will stay downtown at Collector Inn the weekend of the wedding and at the beach otherwise.

Question

What kind of accommodation do you recommend?

Answer

There are many great hotel options in St. Augustine Beach and downtown. If you’re not fussed about hotel service then vacation condos and houses are everywhere in the beach area. We have listed some on the Travel & Stay page but you can easily find these by googling “Vacation Rentals St. Aug Beach”. Booking, com, VRBO and Air BnB are also great.

Question

Do you have hotel blocks booked or held for guests?

Answer

No. Unfortunately there were no hotels accepting blocks for this time period.

Question

Should we rent a car?

Answer

St. Augustine is pedestrian friendly and you can easily get from the beach to town via Uber or the Beach Trolley Bus. However, if you stay by the beach you may want the freedom of a car to get into town.

Question

Should we share a vehicle and accommodation?

Answer

You may want to consider sharing a car, condo or house with another group or close friends. This is a cost effective way to access larger properties with multiple bedrooms. Otherwise there are hotels for all budget levels.

Question

What is the plan for the rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks on June 3rd?

Answer

The rehearsal dinner is for close family and the wedding party. It takes place in the courtyard of O.C. Whites from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on June 3rd. We have a bit of a gap between the rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks, giving people the chance to either explore Downtown or to freshen up at their hotel. Location and exact timing of welcome drinks is TBD.

Question

Where is The White Room (wedding venue)?

Answer

The White Room is in the heart of downtown and is the first building you see on the left when you drive or walk over The Bridge of Lions. It sits on the corner of King Street and Avenida Menendez, above A1A Aleworks. The entrance for the ceremony is the pink building facing the water on Avenida Menendez.

Question

How do we get to The White Room on June 4th?

Answer

Those staying downtown can walk to The White Room easily. For beach stayers, either the Trolley Bus or rideshare services are available.

Question

What are the key times for the wedding on June 4th?

Answer

Arrival & Welcome Drink: 4:30pm (there’s an English pub directly next door too - The Chatsworth) Ceremony: 5:00pm Reception: 5:30pm - 10:30pm Depending on the day/night we may either extend the reception or head for some after party drinks at a local bar.

Question

What is the food and drink situation?

Answer

We have opted for an open premium bar for all guests along with some of our favorite foods. Hor d’Oeuvres, Action Stations and Late Night Snacks will be provided that will cater for all. There’s no chance you will go hungry or thirsty at any point throughout the reception so have an early/light lunch!

Question

What should we bring to the ceremony/reception?

Answer

You, your date and/or kids, the clothes you’re wearing, some sunglasses and an appetite. There’ll be lots of great food served and a 5-hour open bar.

Question

Does your wedding have a theme?

Answer

Yes. Britt calls it "Tropical Royale"; bright colors and tropical palms.... with a hint of gold.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail Attire / Florida Chic. Guys, you can wear chinos or light pants with a shirt. No jackets required.

Question

Is the venue inside or outside?

Answer

Both. Our ceremony will take place inside. The reception is a unique space with both indoor and outdoor areas. Weather permitting most of the action will take place outside, with the exception of dinner and speeches which will take place in the dining room. The reception starts at 5:30 which will be cooler than earlier in the day.

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes. There is an elevator on-site that can take guests from the ground floor to the reception venue. There is also a chair lift allowing transfer between indoor and outdoor reception spaces.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

June is a great month for sunshine, warmth and little rain. The temperature will pretty much stay between 70 and 90 degrees F, that’s 21-30 C for UK guests. However, this is Florida and you never know what the weather will do, so pack plenty of sunscreen, a light raincoat and a sweater.

Question

Can we take pictures and post on social media?

Answer

Yes. The only ask is that any posts are accompanied by our wedding hashtag: #agreatbrittishwedding

Question

What is there to do in St. Augustine?

Answer

TONS! See the "Things to Do" tab on this website for our top picks.

Question

What is the restaurant scene like in St. Augustine?

Answer

Amazing. Downtown has become a bit of a food scene this past few years. Our picks are Harry's, Catch 27, Michael's, Preserved and The Floridian, though you won't be disappointed anywhere. St. Aug beach is more laid back and beachy, with Salt Life, Sunset Grille, Taco Shop and Beachcomber our Top Picks. Outside of that; The Conch House (in between downtown and beach), Caps on the Water and Reef (both on Vilano Beach) are awesome. There's also a British pub in between Downtown and the beach, for anyone who wants a pint of Guinness with Marc!
