There are 3 international airports in the state of Oaxaca, when making plans make you sure you fly to Oaxaca City (airport code OAX). The other 2 airports Huatulco (HUX) and Puerto Escondido (PXM) might look close on the map but they are many hours away driving. There are 3 direct flights from US airports (listed below). Other good connecting airport in Mexico are Guadalajara (GDL with Volaris or TAR airlines) and Cancun (CUN). Mexico City's airport (MEX) is the national hub and it has seen better days, if there is any way you can avoid it that might be preferred. (Also avoid Interjet Airlines as it may be going bankrupt soon!)
