Things To Do

In case you have a little extra time to explore Philadephia, here are some of our favorite places in the city.

Liberty Bell

North 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
, (215) 965-2305

Originally known as the State House Bell, this is probably one of the crow jewels of Philadelphia (other than the Love Sign in Love Park). Just across the street from Independence Hall and surrounded by museums and historical landmarks of all kinds, this is the perfect place to start your journey around historical Old City.

Independence Hall

520 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106

A classic piece of Philadelphian history! If you look closely maybe you'll catch a different Nicholas (Cage) running around the rooftops!

Ritz Theaters

214 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
, (215) 440-1184

Our favorite theater(s) for movie night. Fun Fact: The Ritz Theater is actually three different small theaters located a few blocks from each other: The Ritz 5, The Ritz at the Bourse, and the Ritz East. Britny's favorite is the Ritz 5, but Nick thinks the Ritz at the Bourse is more secluded and "neato."

The Plough & the Stars

123 chestnut street on 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
, (215) 733-0300

Our favorite date night restaurant and a super cool Irish pub in Old City. Fun Fact: The Plough & The Stars is also the name of a play by Irish writer Sean O'Casey and references the Starry Plough flag.

Reading Terminal Market

51 North 12th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
, (215) 922-2317

A great place to eat, shop, and check out all the Amish people! Fun Fact: There is a lot going on here so be sure to check out DiNic's for their amazing roast pork sandwich and Beiler's Donuts, but be careful because they are so popular that there are usually lines.

Mütter Museum

19 S 22nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
, (215) 560-8564

Full of fun, creepy medical oddities and lots of skeletons. Fun Fact: We went to a Halloween party here when we were dating dressed as the Hipster Marx Brothers.

The Franklin Institute

222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
, (215) 448-1200

Full of science and fun, this is one of our favorite museums to visit. Fun Fact: Nick and Britny danced to "Thriller" in the main lobby during the Halloween themed Science After Hours event.

Rocky Statue

2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130
, (215) 643-2858

No trip to Philadelphia is complete without a quick run up the Art Museum stairs and a photo with Rocky! Fun Fact: Nick's favorite movie in the series is classic Rocky. It's Britny's, too. (Because it is the only one that she has ever seen!)

The Spiral Bookcase

112 Cotton Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127
, (215) 482-0704

Our local bookstore. Fun Fact: Both of us have read our fiction stories in this bookstore before.

Johnny Destructo's Hero Complex

4327 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127
, (215) 482-7700

Our local comic book shop. Fun Fact: We have a general rule that when we visit a bookstore or small business that we always try to buy one thing (even if it is something small)!

Lucky's Last Chance

4421 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 19127
, (215) 509-6005

Our favorite local burger place, but also has great hot dogs and delicious tater-tots. Fun Fact: Nick's "usual" is the Classic with bacon, no tomato, no onion and Britny's "usual" is the Joocey Lucy, and a basket of fries to share.
