Hike the Sandia Mountains!

Hike the Sandia Mountains!

NM 87122

The Sandias are a mountain range just 30 minutes outside of Albuquerque! They have beautiful hikes for all skill levels. Please note, $3-$5 (cash only) is required for some parking areas. Be prepared for colder weather in late October. We recommend exploring All Trails (https://www.alltrails.com) for hiking options. Some of our favorite hikes have been the 10K Trail (North or South section!), Kiwanis Cabin Trail, and the Cienaga, Faulty, and Bill Springs Loop.

Sandia Peak Tramway

Sandia Peak Tramway

30 Tramway Road Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87122

If hiking is not your style, catching a ride on the tramway is a great option to see the views from the Sandia Mountains!

Museums

Albuquerque has a wide collection of museums to explore! Learn about the science and history of hot air balloons at the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. On your way back from hiking the Sandias check out Tinkertown Museum, a personal hobby that has grown into a public showcase boasting eclectic collections of Americana. Or for science enthusiasts, visit the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History to learn about the Atomic age.

ABQ BioPark

Coffee

Some of our favorite coffee shops in Albuquerque include Little Bear Coffee, Zendo, and Humble Coffee Company!

Our Favorite Restaurants

Breakfast/Brunch: Sunnyside Up (a casual breakfast spot serving classic diner fare), Cinnamon Sugar and Spice Cafe (a quirky local gem serving a mix of traditional breakfast cuisine, Greek-inspired dishes, and Burqueño favorites), Horizon Bagels (a NY style bagel shop with a big variety of bagels, latkes, matzo ball soup, and other baked goods) , Tia B's La Waffleria (a charming converted house serving sweet and savory waffle dishes), and Burque Bakehouse (a to-go only, James Beard award nominee bakery turning out delectable hand crafted pastries). Quick eats: Poki Poki Cevicheria (a locally owned Asian-Latin fusion restaurant) and Soo Bak Seol Bowl (a Korean fusion restaurant specializing in Bibimbap bowls) Dinner: Dorothea (an upscale fine Greek restaurant), Gimani (a specialty pizza slice parlor), and Naan and Dosa (a family-owned restaurant serving Indian food to New Mexico for nearly two decades).

Cocktails, Breweries, and More

Visit some of our favorite places for happy hour or late night drinks! Left Turn Distilling is Albuquerque's first distillery, which serves craft cocktails made from locally sourced ingredients. The Copper Lounge is a cocktail bar with a speakeasy vibe that serves classic revival cocktails and savory dishes. Or check out one of the many local breweries such as Boxing Bear Brewery, Bosque Brewery, Marble Brewing, La Cumbre Brewery, Bow and Arrow Brewery, and Ex Novo Brewing!
