Britney and Enmanuel first met when their math teacher paired them together, hoping Britney’s good influence would rub off on Enmanuel. At the time, Enmanuel was struggling with his grades and needed to improve them to continue playing basketball, while Britney’s strong grades were partly due to her commitment to the cheerleading team. Enmanuel would occasionally ask Britney for her homework, but she never shared it; she didn’t want to cheat. Initially, Britney wasn’t fond of Enmanuel. She was a “goody two-shoes,” while Enmanuel had a reputation for dating many girls and neglecting his schoolwork. Over time, however, they began texting; first about classwork, then just to get to know each other. During Spring Break of 2015, their daily messages helped Britney see Enmanuel’s kind and genuine side. When school resumed, Britney realized she had a crush on Enmanuel but assumed he was just being friendly. Enmanuel, meanwhile, thought he had been flirting with her all week. Britney only discovered his feelings when he attempted to kiss her one day—she was surprised and initially rejected him. Later that week, on March 30th, 2015, they shared their first kiss right after basketball and cheerleading practice. The very next day, March 31st, Enmanuel asked Britney to be his girlfriend while they sat together at the lunch table. They’ve been together ever since.
