Akin and I met when I traveled to Savannah, Ga for vacation. My best friend wanted Applebee’s, and honestly I wasn’t in the mood to go. I finally decided to go (best decision) and when we got there my friend decided to pay my son to give this man we didn’t know my number. My son Pat told him that I told him to give my number. I got upset because my son knows not to talk to strangers, but little did I know he would turn out to be the love of my life. When we got into Applebee’s and got seated, I received a text that was from Akin, who was sitting at the bar. We texted until my phone went dead. When I was leaving I went up to him to let him know that my phone had gone dead. He walked us to the car and we parted ways. He had been texting me until I had fallen asleep and the next morning I went to his job for a few. After leaving Savannah, we spoke on the phone everyday, not missing a day. After a month of us dating Akin decided to move to Atlanta. We have been together ever since, and it has been nothing but fun and happiness. 💕💕💕
Wednesday. Whew. Need to relax.... these were my thoughts. Little did I know I had made the best decision of my life to date. I remember backing into a parking space at Applebee’s. Sunroof open and not a care in the world. I walked across the parking lot to see a young man running towards me. He confidently approached me and handed me a piece of paper while saying “ my mama said for me to give this to you”. Shocked and confused I looked up to see where he came from as I thought this was a joke. The paper had a name and phone number on it. I remember thinking “ there is no way his mom saw me and had the time to do this before I got out of my car”. I talked to him for a minute asking questions so I could get to the bottom of what I thought was some sort of prank. Then she appeared and walked inside, I went behind them. They were seated at a table and I went to the bar. I pulled the phone number out and began texting her. We were having a good conversation until her phone died. This is when I was really interested in what was happening. We talked more in person and made plans to talk more the following day. She came to my job and I remember my excitement. She was so beautiful! To make a long story short they had to go back home. I texted her on their way back, she replied and so did I. Not a day has passed without me speaking to my Wednesday lover.
This was nerve racking for me, not the actual decision but the execution. I could go with the standard plain jane dinner proposal as that wouldnt get the earth to move. I needed God to inspire me to be creative. I took the ring with me when we had a family night out at Stars n Strikes. As soon as i saw a waiter it came to me! I asked if they had a public address system because i wanted to propose to my girlfriend. He connected me with the DJ. I told him i wanted to get the whole bowling alley’s attention so all eyes could be on us. Seventh frame when Britney would be doing her approach. I had everyone get their phones ready in the 6th frame. As she walked up in the 7th you hear the music stop and the DJ tell everyone to turn their attention to lane 7 for an announcement. I walked up on her backswing and got on one knee. After the ensuing gutter ball Britney turns around to see me kneeling. “ I love you very much and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I dont know who cried first but we were both in tears when i got my “ yes!” Then came the unexpected icing, a series of love songs played over the public address that i didnt ask for! This was the happiest moment a man could ask for and that moment belonged to me and my bride to be! Very special because we had family there to ahare in our special moment. The coolest part was EVERYONE except Britney was in on this! I love this woman with everything i am and cant wait to see my bride to be walk down that aisle to stand by my side for the rest of our lives.
