Neither of us can put an exact date on when we met. We met sometime in the summer of 2012, let's just say summer nights in your early 20s can be a bit hazy. Tommy, a new transplant to Helena, had befriended some of my high school drinking buddies. We met at a bar and were casual friends for over a year. Tommy would always be around when I visited home and wound up being my unofficial chauffeur home. We started officially dating after I graduated and moved home for a year. Tommy asked me to be his girlfriend over Big Dipper ice cream in a local park as he awkwardly posed the question, "I mean if you want to, I guess we can make it official." I remember thinking, I guess we'll either break up when I leave or get married. So, why not? Four and a half years later, after two moves across the country, Tommy proposed at that same park. Both of our dogs (more like our children) came running from the parking lot. Berkeley in a tuxedo and Monroe in a heart sweater that was holding the ring.
