Engagement Story

The Wedding Website of Ellington Brinkley and Dalton Capps
I, Dalton, have been a huge fan of the musician Jon Bellion since high school. Once Ellington and I began dating, Jon was inevitably introduced as well. One of the first songs I showed (and couldn't help but also sing) to her was 2 Rocking Chairs. In the song, he proves his commitment by making a pair of rocking chairs inscribed with each of their names. While I might not be able to carve these chairs with my own hands, I knew it would be a special gift that would stay with us for years to come. (Copy and paste this link to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH3D009DuEg) I was able to get two close friends from my local church to source East Texas cedar and create these custom gifts. Inspired by the song, the "Grow Old With Me" and a cross are inscribed on the front while the words "Mr. Capps" and "Mrs. Capps" on the back. It truly was an exhilarating moment, but don't take my word for it! To hear Ellington's side of the story, click on the pictures below.
As for me, Ellington, our engagement story is from a completely different perspective of surprise! Dalton told me we were going to Quitman so he could go back home to take some graduation pictures...

He told me he wanted me to be in a few graduation pictures with him, which is why I went with him and had an excuse to dress up. Still COMPLETELY oblivious.

It helped that his amazing friends and family hid the surprise so well!! After all... who WOULDN'T want to take pictures with this handsome guy??

As we took pictures, we walked further and further back towards the place where he planned to propose.

In the top right of this picture you can see where Dalton and Mr. Capps had planned the rocking chairs to be placed with the ring strategically there as well!

This is the moment Dalton began playing "2 Rocking Chairs" by Jon Bellion from a tiny speaker hidden in his jacket pocket. Right about now I figured he might be up to something....

Eventually we walked up to the most beautifully made rocking chairs. Dalton sat me down in mine and proposed in the most amazing way.
