COVID-19

We've talked extensively with our hotel about COVID-19. See below the latest guidance on testing requirements and other considerations for traveling to Jamaica. We will update this information often to reflect any changes.
Question

What are the key things to know?

Answer

1) You need to get tested for COVID-19 at least 3 days before flying into Jamaica 2) You need to fill out a travel authorization form before going to Jamaica with your test details 3) Your test must meet Jamaica's requirement 4) All info can be found here: https://www.visitjamaica.com/

Question

Do I need to get tested before I go to Jamaica?

Answer

Yes. All persons visiting Jamaica aged 12 and over who are residents of locations designated as high-risk by the Jamaican health authorities will be required to obtain a COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test within 3 days prior to their intended date of travel to Jamaica (even if you are vaccinated).

Question

What kind of test should I get and when do I need to get it?

Answer

The test must be authorized by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) or meet the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO), and must be performed by a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) registered or ISO 15189 certified laboratory. The date of the sample collection must be less than 3 days before the date of travel. The negative test result must be presented to the airline representative in order to complete the check in for a flight. Accepted Test Types: 1) A Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR) 2) A Nucleic Acid Amplification test (NAA) 3) An RNA or molecular test 4) An Antigen test For more details, see here: https://www.visitjamaica.com/travelauthorization/test-req/

Question

Do I need to quarantine?

Answer

No, you don't need to quarantine in Jamaica if you have a negative test. You will have to undergo a health screening when entering Jamaica. Our hotel, Tensing Pen, falls in the "resilient corridor". Under this measure, persons are required to remain at their hotel/resort within the corridor for the duration of their stay. They may, however, leave the hotel/resort to visit any tourist attraction, that is certified by the Jamaica Tourist Board to be a COVID-19 Resilient licensed tourist attraction located within the resilient corridor. The list of such attractions is available on the visitjamaica.com website. All travel to and from the attraction must be on transportation licensed under the Tourist Board Act.

Question

Do I need a travel authorization to go to Jamaica?

Answer

Yes, see here to fill out the authorization: https://travelauth.visitjamaica.com/ It's best to do this once you have your COVID-19 result.

Question

Where can I learn more to make sure I do this right?

Answer

Head here: https://www.visitjamaica.com/

Question

Is this wedding going to be amazing?

Answer

Yes, yes and YES. Stay safe, get tested, get your travel authorization and see you in Jamaica!

Question

How do I ensure I get the right test?

Answer

We recommend you take the Jamaica test requirements to the testing lab you are working with to confirm with them directly.

Question

Do I need to get tested in Jamaica to be able to return to the U.S.?

Answer

Yes, there is now a requirement to get tested 3 days before returning to the U.S. Our hotel, Tensing Pen, will arrange this during our Wedding weekend and we will take care of the testing expense.
