You can book an airport transfer through the Barcelo Coconut Island Resort. There will be a 40 minutes drive from the airport to get the water taxi at the Laem Hin Lagoon pier. The resort offers a free water taxi, which takes 5 minutes to get from the Phuket mainland to Coconut Island. It runs every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours a day. Overall in Thailand, the easiest and most convenient way to get around is by using the Grab app (Thailand’s version of Uber) and it will be slightly cheaper than the airport transfer offered by the resort. It’s also great for ordering rides, food, and even deliveries. Simply download the app, set up your account, and you’re good to go! *Pro Tip:* For a more authentic experience, make sure to take at least one ride in a **tuk-tuk**—it’s a must-do for any tourist! Just agree on the fare with the driver before you start your journey. You can see a photo of us in a vibrant purple tuk-tuk taxi in the *gallery section* of our wedding website!
You will experience a world of activities and adventures at Coconut Island: - For free marine activities, there is kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing (dingy sail boats). - For land & beach activities, there are tennis courts, mountain bikes, volleyball, beach badminton, mountain bikes, table tennis as well as a range of daily classes (private Muay Thai and Yoga lessons are available for a fee). - For wellness activities, you can unwind, recharge, and rejuvenate at Kahtor Spa. *Pro Tip:* There are a number of tours that leave directly from Coconut Island. We will be renting a private boat to tour the local islands on 17 February 2026, please RSVP to the Private Boat Event in the *RSVP section* of our wedding website if you would like to join.
We want you to be comfortable and happy at our wedding event! You can wear a nice shirt and slacks, skirt or a dress. It will be the dry season in a tropical climate so wearing a suit jacket is your choice. *Pro Tip:* We recommend breathable natural fibers for maximum comfort (e.g. cotton, linen, silk etc.)
Thai people are known for their warmth, hospitality and vibrant culture! The experience in Thailand is amazing and to help make the most of it you can: - Avoid drinking tap water or using it to brush your teeth. Stick to bottled water, which is widely available. Also avoid ordering street food or raw seafood. - Use a few basic Thai phrases (like hello – “sawasdee” and thank you – “khop khun”) to enhance your interactions with locals! - Be aware in crowded areas and keep an eye on your belongings - Be safe by the beach with sunscreen, bottled water and always heed local warnings about strong currents. - Enjoy the many unique Thai experiences including cultural experiences (local markets, temples, the national sport of muay thai fighting, the giant white buddha and food tours) as well as adventures (day tours to stunning islands, white water rafting, zip lining, snorkelling and diving). *Pro Tip:* Stock up on bottled water and sunscreen at 7-Eleven—it’s usually cheaper than buying them at hotels or tourist spots.
We would love to spend more time with you in Thailand! We will be at the Double Tree Hilton in Patong from 10 February 2026 - 13 February 2026 before heading to Coconut Island. *Pro Tip:* If you are coming from the US you will 'lose a day' coming to Thailand and 'gain a day' traveling back to the US as you pass over the time zone.
7-Eleven is your best friend in Thailand! You’ll find them everywhere, and they’re perfect for grabbing snacks, drinks, basic toiletries and even alcohol! If you need medication, pharmacies in Thailand are very relaxed. Many common medicines are available over the counter without a prescription, and they’re often much cheaper than back home. *Pro Tip:* Don’t miss out on the 7-Eleven toasted cheese sandwiches — they’re a cult favourite among tourists!
While many larger bars, restaurants, and hotels accept credit cards, it’s always a good idea to carry some **Thai Baht** with you. Smaller shops, street vendors, and tuk-tuks (vibrant local taxi's) often only accept cash. - ATMs are widely available, but they charge a fee for withdrawals (usually around 220 THB per transaction). To save on fees, consider withdrawing larger amounts in one go. - Be mindful that ATMs dispense cash *before* returning your card, so don’t forget to take it! - Keep valuables and large amounts of cash in your room safe. *Pro Tip:* Notify your bank before traveling to avoid any issues with your card being blocked for international transactions.
