Brigett & Ryan first met in the summer of 2016 as teammates for their ultimate frisbee club team, Frisbee of Long Island (FLI). They were on the same starting offensive line. Even though they had a losing season, their friendship was a huge win. They stayed in touch after the season through mutual friends and played in many Long Island ultimate leagues together.

Sparks flew in the summer of 2019 when Ryan and Brigett were both on the same Long Island beach volleyball team with a close group of friends. They then fell in love in July 2019 at an ultimate frisbee beach tournament (Wildwood!!!). After their mutual friend (shoutout sweet D) spilled the beans that they both liked each other, Ryan asked Brigett to dance at the after party in the Bolero hotel and the rest is history!

After that tournament, Ryan and Brigett hung out the following week after their ultimate frisbee summer league game. Their first date ever was a late night fast food dinner at an old local Wendy’s. Brigett was really craving the 4for4 deal and chili (iykyk).

Ryan popped the question during the middle of a work week while going out on a summer sunset walk in the park at Port Jefferson village harbor. Brigett definitely did not suspect a proposal because she was wearing sneakers and a light sweater. Despite the summer heat, Ryan hid and carried the ring in a bundled up fleece sweater. When she asked him why he brought a sweater, he replied "I don't know. Why are you wearing one?" Ryan caught Brigett with the "Wow look over there", and when she turned back around he was down on one knee <3. Their good friends Jamie and Zelda hid in the bushes incognito and took pictures to capture this special moment. They celebrated after with margaritas and ceviche at Barito!
