Briga and Matt met in Santa Rosa when Briga was getting a Master’s degree and Matt was working on a project in the Bay Area. Matt swears he knew Briga was perfect for him from their first date, where Matt was so nervous he forgot his credit card at the restaurant! Briga quickly fell for his enthusiasm for everything and sweet kind smile. After making it through a pandemic, Briga’s last year of med school down in Southern California, and two new projects for Matt that moved him all around California things finally settled down summer 2021. Matt and Briga finally got to be together full time when Briga got a job working as a Family Medicine resident for Sutter in Santa Rosa and Matt became a senior project manager remotely supervising the financial aspects of building a light rail train system in Los Angles.

Matt proposed to Briga Thanksgiving day 2021 in Lake Tahoe. It was just after sunrise on a balcony overlooking the lake, and could not have been more beautiful. Tahoe is a special place for Matt and Briga - vacationing there a couple years before was the first time they ever said “I love you”. The proposal there was also extra special because family is one of the most important things for them and Matt's whole family was staying there together for the holiday. After he did the asking in private, they went to breakfast and announced the engagement to about 30 people!

These days, Briga and Matt spend their time together trying to be active outside in nature as much as possible- exploring new hikes or going on whitewater rafting trips. Matt’s main competition is Briga’s horse Louie who is her other love. Though not a horse person before meeting Briga, Matt has come around to it and always remembers to get carrots for Louie. Briga and Matt also love dancing together - either out at parties or just in the kitchen at home (so y’all better bring your dancing shoes to the wedding!).
