2007. Two high school freshmen – one coined the funny guy with great American Eagle style and a love for Fallout Boy concerts. And the other, a sweet girl with the latest Nike Shox kicks and a love for immature fun with her best friends. Josh. And Brienne. A truelove story whose narrative dates back 12 years and began with a simple question. A quintessential question among most high-school boys that some girls so greatly seek. A question that marks the pivotal moment between adolescence and the early stages of teenage-hood. Drum roll… “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” Of course this wasn’t asked in-person. Risking public humiliation should her answer go south? Pure nonsense. It was written on the inside of a blank card and carefully placed in her locker only to be found hours later as the school day ended. Josh indirectly asked and Brienne indirectly answered through a text later that night – exactly what you'd expect from a set of 14-year-olds. A date to a dance quickly transformed into a strong relationship built on the key foundations of any true young love – frequent trips to Culver’s, bonfires in their backyards, long drives in his swanky 2001 Mercury Sable...the list could go on. Upon graduation, they were up against a true test of their love – college at different schools, requiring them to explore a new type of relationship; a long-distance one. With Josh in Eau Claire and Brienne in Madison, they grew up but not apart. They met new friends, learned to live independently and forged plans for careers and adulthood after school. Their love and support for each other never wavered, never drifted. The two made their way back home to Milwaukee in 2015, and a little French potato named Hamilton joined them shortly thereafter. During a typical walk with Hamilton along the lakefront, Josh surprised Brienne with another question. But this time he did it in-person, and she didn't text back an answer. “Will you marry me?” And the rest they say is history!
