Wills matched with Bridgette on Bumble in April of 2018 without so much as a ‘hello’ from Bridgette (Jeez!). Bumble is the dating app where the girl has to initiate conversation after matching with a guy. The guy cannot contact the girl until she makes the first move. However, they matched again in July and exchanged a few witty messages back and forth before exchanging phone numbers to coordinate meeting in person. Bridgette was excited to give this tall, dark, and handsome glass of water named Wills a chance, but was still not convinced he wasn’t a British celebrity golfer, based on his name and Bumble profile photos at Augusta National! On August 1st, 2018, after physically running into her cousin/bridesmaid, Sasha on the sidewalk while Bridgette was changing from her commuting shoes to her date heels, Bridgette and Wills met for a drink, non-stop laughter, and amazing conversation in Union Square. They regrettably parted ways so Wills could attend his friend’s birthday dinner downtown. 45 minutes later, it turns out the birthday dinner was just drinks so Wills decided to text Bridgette asking if she had eaten dinner yet. After a giddy walk home, and climbing 78 stairs up to her 4th floor Murray Hill walk-up, Bridgette was about to boil water for Annie’s noodles and was excited to recap her epic date to her roommate/bridesmaid, Tess, when Bridgette received this dinner request text from Wills. She squealed in excitement, turned off the pot of water, and replied cooly: “PJ Clarke’s, 20 minutes?” A cheeseburger dinner, a 2 hour walk along the East River, and 4+ years later….the best is still yet to come!
