Bridgett and Nick's story starts with Fish Camp, not necessarily at Fish Camp, but with Fish Camp friends. They graduated from Texas A&M in 2017 and 2018, but their paths did not cross until they were out of Aggieland. Bridgett had heard of Nick from their mutual friends, and always thought he was cute. Meanwhile, Nick had no idea who Bridgett was...until a 2019 NYE Party hosted by Josh and Jordan McKay. Now who'd have ever thought that they would both be there that night. Jordan took the match-making lead, and helped Bridgett get on Nick's radar.
After a two months of dating, Bridgett and Nick planned a surprised double date with Josh and Jordan also known as "Cringey Night" where they ate dinner at the infamous Magic Time Machine. While the dinner was terrible and laughable, Jordan continued with her match-making powers and asked Nick if we were officially dating yet, and that night, he finally asked Bridgett to be his girlfriend. Depending on who you ask, their anniversary is either April 27th or 28th, but it doesn't actually matter anymore now that they are getting married. In fact, Bridgett forgot their anniversary while being engaged because she was so focused on their new date: 2/3/23. Through their three years of dating, Nick and Bridgett shared their love for travel, exploring Breckenridge, Maui, Charleston, Cabo, New York, and Alaska. But in between the big trips, they have loved life together, making sure even the small moments are memorable. They love planning unique date nights, having game nights with friends, and picking up new hobbies like disc golf.
Nick decided he could see a life with Bridgett, because the world looked so much brighter with her by his side. Bridgett loved that Nick would always keep life spontaneous and filled with adventure. Leading up to the proposal, Nick wanted to ask Bridgett's dad, Gary, for his blessing to marry her. He was coming to Dallas for a work trip, but had a tight schedule. Nick and Gary found time to connect during a happy hour and Gary's coworkers happened to be there. The next morning, Bridgett met her dad at the hotel for the continental breakfast. Nick tried to encourage Bridgett to take her dad to a cool breakfast place, away from the hotel. But, if you know Gary, you know he doesn't pass on a free hotel breakfast. At the hotel, one of Gary's coworkers let it slip that he had met Bridgett's "fiance" and distress flashed across his face. He had let out a huge secret. Bridgett knew a proposal was on the way, but was unsure of when it might happen. On a beautiful Saturday morning, gluten-intolerant Bridgett decided she was going to get donuts to celebrate starting a new job. She was then scheduled for lunch and shopping with Nick's mom, Daphne. Brunch with Daphne was going great, until she was oddly paying attention to the time and suggested going to our church for a fundraising craft market for shopping. When Bridgett and Daphne arrived at the church, Bridgett realized it was go time...there weren't many cars in the parking lot but Nick's was! Bridgett got out of the car and was greeted by Nick who took her to the prayer garden to propose with a cute little picnic set up. Nick and Bridgett both blacked out and can't tell you specific details of what was said, other than Bridgett said yes! Nick pointed out in the distance that her parent's were there and got to watch the proposal. After basking in the moment, we were off to celebrate with some drinks at the Hallman's house! Now, let's not forget about those donuts and Bridgett's gluten sensitivity. She was adamant that she would be stopping in the bathroom as soon as they got to the Hallman's. Despite Nick's multiple suggestions to stop on the way, Bridgett wanted to wait. Turning onto the Hallman's street there was a plentiful amount of cars, to which Bridgett exclaimed, "Wow, someone must be having a party!" She then saw her best friend's car and was like, "Wait, are they here for us?" Indeed, they were there for a surprise party! Bridgett awkwardly snuck through the side door to the bathroom while Nick walked in the front door. We spent the evening with friends celebrating and laughing about the days events! If you made it this far, you get a gold star! Bridgett and Nick cannot wait to celebrate their love story with you! <3
