Bridget and Bobby’s story begins where all romantic tales do—at a bar. In the fall of 2017, Bridget and Bobby found themselves in similar circumstances that would lead them on a crash course to their meeting on a chilly November night. Both had recently taken on jobs that would land them back at home with their parents in South Jersey, the millennial rite of passage. Bridget had started work as an Engineer for Dupont. Bobby had started work in Sales with ADP, and made quick friends with his mentor, Nick Villa. One Friday night in November, Nick’s long-time girlfriend (and now wife), Cait had invited Nick & Bobby to join her group of friends for a birthday celebration in Philly. The night out was what you would expect for a group of 24 year olds celebrating a friend’s birthday. Poorly sung renditions of Don’t Stop Believing, tons of dancing and an assortment of cheap drinks. At one point, Bobby had worked up such a sweat from dancing that he decided he should tie his sweater around his waist like a 90s dad. Maybe it was the fashion look that inspired Bobby with confidence, but he approached Bridget and offered to buy her a drink. From there on, the two hit it off and agreed they’d like to see each other again soon. Bridget and Bobby would continue to see each other often that winter, their relationship growing stronger with each date. Another force was growing stronger that winter in Philadelphia, as the Eagles were in the midst of their first Super Bowl run. Some people say that Bridget & Bobby’s relationship was destined for marriage after the NFC Championship Game. The couple attended the game in place of Bridget’s parents after her mother, Carol, fell ill to the flu during the tailgate. (So sorry Mike) After a historic Eagles win, Bridget’s brother Jim would remark, “Bridget, you better marry this guy. We can’t have a loser ruin our happy memories”. Luckily for Bridget & the entire Breslin family, Bobby turned out to not be a loser.
Fast forward to the summer of 2021. After spending quarantine mostly confined to their 1 Bedroom Apartment in Society Hill, Bobby decided the couple needed more space and they moved into a new apartment in Old City. To celebrate the occasion, Bridget & Bobby would invite a group of their close friends to visit for a housewarming party. The thing is, Bobby had other plans in mind for the night. The prospect of having all of their closest friends together in one spot seemed like too good of an opportunity to pass up. He decided several days prior that this would be the night he would ask Bridget to marry him. The day of the party, Bridget was hard at work running errands in preparation for the night, unsuspecting as ever. Friends would eventually start to file in, and Bobby would anxiously greet each one as they arrived. It seemed like an ordinary summer night to most, as the group enjoyed food, drinks and each other’s company on the rooftop deck of the apartment. As the sun began to set, Bobby offered a red solo cup champagne toast to all, cheers-ing to their new apartment and thanking their friends for coming. Before concluding the toast, he requested that the friend group celebrate just one more thing, and knelt down to propose to Bridget. After the shouts of excitement and surprise subsided and Bridget put down her two solo cups, she happily accepted the proposal.
