Iao Valley
ʻĪao Valley State Monument on Maui features the iconic 1,200-foot ʻĪao Needle (Kuka‘emoku), a 1,200-foot lush, green volcanic pinnacle surrounded by vertical cliffs, viewable via a short, 0.6-mile paved loop trail. The site is culturally significant as a historic burial ground and the site of the 1790 Battle of Kepaniwai. Reservations are required for out-of-state visitors.
