Pentwater is 45 minutes (Muskegon) and 1 hour and 30 minutes (Grand Rapids) away from the nearest airports served by major airlines. There are no public transportation options for getting from these airports to Pentwater, and renting a car is necessary. Two passenger/car ferries provide transit options from the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan. The Lake Express connects Milwaukee, WI to Muskegon, MI, and the S.S. Badger connects Manitowoc, WI to Ludington, MI.
There are many options for places to stay in the vicinity of the wedding venue. Pentwater is a small town on Lake Michigan, a beach town and Bridget's hometown! Think Pentwater for walking around a quaint town, shopping and going to the beach. Ludington, a beach town about 20 miles north of Pentwater, is the nearest "big" town and has major hotel options. South of Pentwater about 15 miles is the seasonal community of Silver Lake. Think Silver Lake for dune buggy rides and kid-friendly amusement park activities. In and around Pentwater are hotels, bed and breakfasts, cottage rentals and Air BnB options, as well as campgrounds. We're getting married in a vacation destination! People travel to Pentwater and the surrounding beach towns and countryside to go to the beach, go boating, shop, eat the local fruits and vegetables produced in the area, and relax.
We have parking available within a short walk of the wedding venue. Remember, there are no taxi, Uber, or Lyft options in the area.
Many of our events will be in locations that will be at least partly on grass or partly outdoors. The reception on Saturday, September 7 will be located almost entirely on a lawn, and women are encouraged to wear block heels or wedges. Weather in Michigan can vary significantly in September. Check the weather in advance of your trip and pack accordingly! Please see further details on what to wear to our different wedding events under the “Schedule” section of our site.
