A rainy Bastille Festival in Franshoek proved to offer more than just wine tasting... When Chris pointed out the very dapper Matt (appropriately dressed in beret, scarf and trenchcoat), Meg decides that she is the perfect wingman (or woman). After assuring Chris that "she's got this", she proceeds to march over to Matt and very unceremoniously ask: "Are you gay?"... to which Matt responds "WHAT???". "Don't worry, I can tell by your reaction that you're not" was Meg's reply, after which she turned around to Chris, gives the thumbs down, and 'dibs' Matt for herself. If it wasnt for Mix locking Matt out of their flat later that evening, no one knows whether M&M would have ever seen each other again... but, the festival turned into an all nighter and the couple have been inseperable ever since...
Matt informed me in December of 2017 that we had a date at the Tiger Sanctuary with his folks on the 9th of Feb the following year and that it would be a very early start to the Friday. So far in advance, I didnt give it another thought. Almost everybody knew that this was coming except me, and they all played their part. From "Tiger Sanctuary" co-ordinates being sent by Barbara, to a 4:45am phone call from Alan asking how far away we were. It wasnt until we drove through the gates of a bush lodge did I realise what was going on (unfortunately the big advert for hot air balloon rides gave things away a bit). The morning was magical, and Matt, afraid of heights, popped the question mid air in the basket of a private ride. This was followed by breakfast and a sneaky trip to the airport (on Alan's request) to meet 'Paul' and pick up a parcel, which turned out to be my parents, making an already perfect day even more phenomenal.
