It all began on a football field, our tale of romance. At least, it tried and tried again to start on a football field…Jonathan thought he recognized a girl he’d like to get to know, as she (rather unglamorously) shivered in place, pulled into her polar-fleece on the side of the field. He was too subtle for her, though, trying to engage her in a conversation about the weather. Every day. She just thought he was weather-obsessed. He asked her out, finally, on the main floor of Graselli Library, and she definitely said yes. It was a real date, he picked her up and took her to dinner. After dinner they set out together in search of really good ice cream. On that walk, a down-and-out man approached them, asking for some cash. Jonathan answered him so easily, no hint of awkwardness, as he invited the man to join them for ice cream. Later, in the shop, conversation flowed between Jonathan and the man who joined their first date. And that is definitely where the tumble began for Sarah. Because it was obvious that this was someone she would like to get to know. There was a solid goodness there, the kind that you can count on for the long run.
