The couple met floating in the Merrimack River on the Lowell high school rowing team. In spring 2018, at an end of season pool party, Sara caught Derek's eye. After some texts, Sara asked Derek to be her prom date. Since May 30, 2018 a lot has happened including managing long distance, a whole fraternity, lots of school/job changes, Sara got a dog therefore Derek got a dog, and of course becoming parents to the most amazing girl there is.
