Our Story Up til Now

We met back in 2020, during the Covid-19 Lockdown. As fate would have it, we probably would have never met if the world hadn’t shut down for those few weeks, and that is why we look back so fondly on that crazy time. It all started with Brice wanting to meet my dog, and I saying that I could listen to him play guitar all day. From there it lead to an art challenge between the two of us, giving each other a week to make a new piece and we would compare on Sunday. We go all week without talking, and when Saturday comes around I hadn’t even started on my piece.. I text him saying “hey I might need an extension on the challenge, I don’t know if I’ll finish by tomorrow” and his response was “well you better get going because mines done”. And right then I knew he was the one; we had never met, only messaged back and forth a couple of times without really holding substantial conversation, we hadn’t talked all week, he could have just not responded all together.. but instead he not only held me accountable and pushed me to complete the challenge, he had already finished his and wanted to see mine. I was so intrigued by this man that I stayed up all night to start and finish my project, and after we showed each other our art the next day, we have never went another week without talking. After three weeks of face timing for hours at a time, we finally decided to meet in person. Maybe it was the “social distancing” of the time or the fact that we were nervous the other could hear the butterflies in our stomachs, but we sat on opposite ends of the couch and watched a Futurama episode, hardly saying a thing to each other except for comments on the show. Brice will tell you he knew I was the one that first night, when we went to say goodbye, after we spent hours of him showing me episodes of shows I’ve never seen before and sitting on opposite sides of the couch, it was when we first touched, “when you nuzzled into me when we hugged goodbye, that’s when I knew” -Brice And from then on, we’ve just about spent every day together! (Sitting next to each other after that, hand in hand most of the time). A year later, Brice drove us on a surprise trip to Colorado. We hiked up Devils Head Trail to find halfway up, a picnic and my two best friends waiting for us. There he proposed and screamed “SHE SAID YES!” off the side of the mountain for all of Colorado -maybe the whole world- to hear! The next few years were beautiful and slow. Sometimes boring but we found joy in nature by walking trails and daily walks around our neighborhood, going thrifting, being with family, and saving for our house. One of those trails we visit every year, Weston Bend State Park, but more on that in a second. Which brings us to now, 2024, homeowners! And the original plan for the wedding was to have an elopement ceremony in our backyard, but we all know what happens when you make plans.. they change. So, to hold to theme, we thought it only fitting to get married in our second favorite backyard that can hold 100 people, Weston. Eventful at Locus Grove is a historic home converted from a tobacco farm to a wedding venue, and the house itself is still home to the venue owner’s parents today. They are the reasons the garden is maintained, adding such a personal and loving touch we couldn’t ignore. We are so excited to be officially inviting you to join us at our wedding, we can’t wait to celebrate our slow living, blissful and joyful day with you!
