How We Met

Believe it or not, Briar and Chad went to high school together, but not once did Chad ever have the courage to talk to Briar. She was way too cool for a shmuck like him to be talking to her. It took a few years before Chad would have the guts to talk to Briar and they wouldn't meet until June 2019, well after high school, at a reunion between mutual friends. Regardless of having the guts to talk to her now, he still wouldn't find the courage to ask her out here. After months of hanging out with mutual friends and no moves made by Chad, Briar was finally convinced by our mutual friend and Wedding Party member, Zach Truesdale, to be the one to make the move. The weekend Briar graduated from her Undergrad experience at TCU in December 2019, Zach was coincidentally was throwing a birthday party that Chad was helping host. Through a combination of liquid courage and sheer confidence, made the "subtle" move to help Chad clean up at the end of the night, before she found the confidence to kiss Chad. It was love at first sight, but Briar knew the game too well. The next day she left to visit her dad in Florida before traveling down to Panama for a week long medical mission trip. Chad hadn't known she would be gone for about a month, but he was immediately hooked. So hooked that he found too much liquid courage on New Years and just had to call Briar from a different country to tell her he really wanted to date her. From here they would continue to fall in love throughout the years until he finally found the courage to propose.

How He Proposed

They say its unobtainable, but he did everything he could to make it "Perfect"

After four short years of falling in love, Briar was starting to wonder when Chad would propose. They had talked about marriage plenty in their relationship and both were ready to take the next steps, but Chad was certainly taking his time. By the start of 2024, Chad knew that he needed to propose by the end of the year, so he started planning. Briar only had two asks for the proposal. The first was that she wanted as many of her friends to be there to celebrate as possible. With us moving half way across the country for Briar's podiatry school, this would not be easy but Chad would make it work to his best ability. He reached out to as many friends as possible to sneak up a trip to visit the two of them. The second ask was for her to cry out of happiness. Even though Chad had plenty of romantic cards up his sleeve to play, there was only one truly correct one to achieve this. Briar is a massive Ed Sheeran fan. So much so that we bought tickets to his first show for his US Mathematics tour debuting in Arlington, TX. Knowing this, Chad thought it would be an amazing idea to serenade his love with her favorite Ed Sheeran song at the time, "Perfect". After months of planning, practicing, and stressing, Chad would arrange for as many of their friends as possible to meet up together on December 15th, 2024 at a local restaurant and pickle ball court establishment called Smash Park. To say Briar didn't know what was happening would be a lie as Chad had dropped the ball with the date weeks before, but she had no idea HOW it was going to happen. That night she was surprised by all of her friends friends from out of town, serenaded by Chad to the song "Perfect", and was given the chance to party with all of the people who loved them like they had in the old days. ...Oh and she cried her heart out so hard that she wasn't able to fully look at the ring until her friends rescued her with plenty of tissues.
