Our adventure together began before we even knew it had, when we first interacted in 2014 at a high school homecoming dance. At one point in the night Brianne came up to Steven and said that she liked his shirt, a Metallica Master of Puppets shirt that he was wearing under his suit coat. A quick thank you and that was it. After a mutual friend suggested that Brianne reach out to Steven because of our similar tastes in music, she did. We began talking, sharing our love of music together. Coincidentally, we ran into one another at a car show, at Riverwalk Place in 2015. We had only been talking for a couple weeks and Brianne was at the show with her family and their 1956 Belair. Steven was walking with one of his friends and they decided to stop at the car show when they saw a mutual friend to say hi. Neither of us were sure if we were talking to the same person we had been texting with over the last couple of weeks. We talked to each other a little bit, not wanting to fully commit to each of our assumptions. The first time Steven and Brianne knowingly met was when Steven went to Brianne’s house to play music together and meet her family. By the end of that summer and just after school began, Steven asked Brianne to the homecoming dance and to be his girlfriend. Thankfully, she said yes to both. In 2016, Brianne was given a last minute decision to save a puppy that was being taken away. Without hesitation she went to the litter of puppies and, against her dad’s request of getting a female, she picked the one that wouldn’t leave her alone. After taking him home and cleaning the fleas off of him, he became her best friend. The next day when she brought him over to Steven’s he became his best friend too. Because our first encounter revolved around Metallica’s Master of Puppets and it was one of our favorite albums, we decided that we would name him Orion, a song on the album. Although, Steven quickly began calling him Chubz because of his plump puppy belly. They saw each other every day they could for as long as they could. Brianne would pack up her Xbox and monitor, get Chubz, and come over every day after school. This went on for the next few years while we got our driver’s licenses together, graduated high school, saw our first Metallica show together, and worked on music for our band. In 2020 everything changed for us. Brianne has quite a severe autoimmune illness and when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and things were locking down, we needed to decide what we would do and where we would stay. Thinking we would only be in lockdown for a week or two, Brianne and Chubz decided to stay at Steven’s house, which she had done in the past, but ended up staying much longer. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Brianne’s parents‘ had an opportunity to move into Brianne’s Grandparents’ house. Her parents asked if Brianne and Steven would want to take over the remaining mortgage of their house and become homeowners. Without hesitation we both said yes, excited to turn a new page in our lives together. For the next year we worked tirelessly on the house, remodeling it and putting literally every cent we made into it, besides some money that Steven was putting aside to buy Brianne an engagement ring. With the help of Chubz, on April 3, 2024, after picking Brianne up from work and lying about Chubz getting out of the house so it wasn’t suspicious that he was in the car with him, they went to their house to check on the sump-pump, or so that’s what Brianne thought. Asking Brianne to run downstairs and check the pump while Steven made sure everything upstairs was fine, he slipped the engagement ring around Chubz neck. When she came upstairs he delivered it to her. With much excitement, she said yes. On September 27, 2025, the day we get married; it will also be our 10th anniversary together. We are so happy that we will get to celebrate 10 years together with our closest friends and family.
