Matt and I both served in the same LDS mission in the New England states. We didn’t really know each other out in the field, but Matt reached out to me via email the day i flew home because he felt the desire to get to know me further. I still had no idea who he was, but he was cute so I proceeded to write him. I went off to school at BYU-Idaho and he still had 11 months of his mission left. There wasn’t a lot of hope that the two of us would work out even though we quickly developed feelings for one another. We emailed for a few months until I started dating other people and had to stop talking to him. I dated people off and on through the spring and summer months but nothing was working out. With two months left of his mission, I made the decision to email him again and we started right where we left off. He finally got home to Washington in November of 2017 but I was still living in Utah and attending school in Idaho. We texted, snapchatted, and facetimed each other for hours and hours a day which led to strong feelings and a real desire to meet each other and see what could come from it. My parents were supportive of this, so they made a way for me to go out and visit him. We spent a few days together and it was amazing...everything felt so natural. I felt like i knew him forever and it was so hard to leave. After that trip we spent the next 7 weeks talking to each other every single day, all day. There were nights that we would facetime each other for up to six or seven hours. We had fallen in love and the feelings we had, and still have, are so strong. We were DYING to see each other again, so I flew out to him with my parents and we spent another couple of days together. It was even better and more special than the first visit. We were falling so deep in love and it was a feeling that neither of us had truly felt before. After our parents meeting and after enjoying that special weekend together, we are planning our wedding and we have never been happier.
