Bryce and Brianne first saw each other at an Iowa State tailgate, never actually speaking a word to each other. Bryce had won tickets to the game and had stopped by at halftime to see friends and enjoy "halftime hotdogs", a beloved tradition at Brianne's family tailgate. After the game, Brianne felt inclined to tell a family friend, Teri, about her sudden crush, knowing Teri knew Bryce. Months later on New Years Eve, Teri went straight to both moms to ask if Bryce and Brianne were single. Jane reached out to Bryce and Mary reached out to Brianne asking if they were up for being set up. They answered how you'd probably expect - "sure" (Bryce) and "why not!" (Brianne). Numbers were exchanged and it all began on New Years Day.
Bryce and Brianne ventured out on a snowy Saturday night in January. It was one of those blizzards where no one is on the road, and everything is quiet. Since Bryce and Brianne both lived in East Village and could walk, the dinner date to Bar Nico was still on. Bryce still describes the moment Brianne walked in the door all bundled up and all he could see between her hat and scarf were her smiling eyes. After dinner, the night continued on for some (mostly) good-natured competition at Up-Down (Brianne 3 - Bryce 2), pool and TouchTunes at Locust Tap, and bellying-up to the bar at Beechwood (you may have heard Bryce talk about how Brianne got stuck in a snowbank enroute). It was a date that never seemed to end, and the rest is history!
