Brianna and Martin’s love story began simply, over a drink at Grace O’Malley’s, an Irish pub in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. From the very first moments, there was something playful and easy between them. Martin traveled from the suburbs of Chicago, while Brianna recently relocated after graduating from the University of Florida, ready to begin a new chapter close to family. Martin was stationed there with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS George Washington, coincidentally, the same ship Brianna’s father had commissioned in 1992. It felt like their meeting was meant to be. As their relationship grew, so did their love for one another. Through changing seasons and the uncertainty of the pandemic, they became each other’s constant. Their favorite moments were often the simplest - weekend hikes, the beach, breweries, disc golfing, quiet evenings together cooking and watching old movies. Even apart, when Martin began medical school at Liberty University, and Brianna continued building her career at General Dynamics, they never stopped choosing one another. When Martin’s final medical rotation brought him back to Chesapeake, Virginia, it felt as though no time had passed at all, it was in those moments, their attachment proved everlasting. It was at the end of a hike at the peak of McAfee Knob, that Martin popped the question. What Brianna thought was a simple photo on the overlook became a moment suspended in time—sweeping views, Martin down on one knee, with a foot dangling from the edge of the cliff, it was an obvious yes! Now, as Martin begins his anesthesiology residency in St. Louis, MO, they step forward hand in hand. Rooted in faith, a shared sense of humor, love for life and adventure, Brianna and Martin joyfully invite their family and friends to celebrate as they join their lives in holy matrimony.
