SHE SAID : Being very close with Ryan's sister, Shanette, I had been spending a lot of time with her after school had ended. She spoke a lot about my son Aiden in front of Ryan and the family, he got to know me way before he ever met me in real life. Shanette invited me to Ryan's birthday party; it felt awkward to go since I had never met her brother in person, but I knew of his friends, and decided to go anyway. I finally met Ryan on his 26th Luau Themed Birthday; I brought him a formal gift and he made it a point to address that this was the first time someone brought an actual gift to his birthday party. Most friends show up with their drink of choice! Haha. He made me laugh, and we talked all night. In some ways forgetting that there was any one else around us. Surely, this was a set up! but it was okay with me. I still have the Lei from the night we met. HE SAID : I met Brianna at my 26th birthday party. My sister Shanette and our friends threw me a Hawaiian Luau themed party at our friend Omar’s house. Birthday parties in my circle were all themed, extravagant, and fun. Brianna was already good friends with my sister Shanette; they shared adventures and constantly posted them on social media. I became curious on who she was, so I would constantly ask Shanette about her. She grew annoyed and suggested that I talk to Brianna myself. I knew Brianna would be coming to my birthday party since Shanette had invited her. The few weeks leading up to my birthday had me thinking about her more and more; it made me nervous. When I walked into the party, after saying my hello’s to everybody, I approached Brianna for the first time with an awkward, nervous hug. Brianna had brought me a present, which caught me by surprise! Later into the night, I approached her with the “Enjoying Yourself?” and “Having a Good Time?” lines. I couldn’t take my eyes away from hers. We talked for what felt like hours and I knew that then she was going to become someone special to me.
SHE SAID: On March 7th 2019. Ryan and I bought tickets for Disneyland’s “90’s Night” for my Birthday. We decided to make it a date away from the kids and enjoy Disneyland without them. Before leaving that morning, Ryan went to see my dad at work for something. He was late coming home and on top of that we got a flat tire. Our Disney trip was starting to look like it was not going to happen but we made it in the end! It was getting closer to midnight, and it began to rain so we started to head toward the exit. Ryan was holding my hand tight, he started to walk slower and eventually led me to an empty ticket booth. As we stood in the rain, he held my hand, got down on one knee, pulled out the ring…and to be honest I am not sure what he said AT ALL. His words were muffled, but the world slowed down, my heart raced and in shock I said “are you serious!?”. We cried, we held each other shaking from excitement and nerves…in the middle of the night…. in the rain…in a random spot in front of the Happiest Place on Earth, and it was perfection. HE SAID: Disneyland was one of our first big adventures as a new couple since Brianna LOVES Disneyland, and it began to grow on me. We became annual pass holders and visited regularly. We saw an ad for a 90's themed party after hours. I'd been trying to figure out how I would want to pop the question for some time so as the event drew nearer, I felt like it could be a perfect opportunity. But while we were there, the opportunity wasn't presenting itself. I was getting ready to call the whole thing off, re-think it, re-plan. At the end of the night, there was a light mist in the air, the lights were twinkling between the drops; it was the moment I was looking for. With a shaky hand I pulled the ring from my pocket. I said: “Brianna, I love you so much. We've built such a wonderful life. You’ve given me more than I could ask for, but if I could ask for one more thing…” I dropped to one knee. I asked “Will you marry me?”.
