What a time to be alive

Every great love story starts somewhere, ours started with a dating app, a Dodgers game, and two people who somehow agreed to meet before even exchanging phone numbers. After only a day of messaging, Robbie planned our first date around Brianna’s one non-negotiable: not missing the Dodgers game. He found a spot showing it, showed up anyway as a Padres fan, and somehow survived. From the start, everything just felt easy. What followed was a relationship built on laughter, adventure, and learning each other’s worlds. Brianna introduced Robbie to baseball, and Robbie introduced Brianna to wrestling, proving love really is about compromise. Robbie went from knowing almost nothing about the game to understanding baseball basics, while Brianna learned that wrestling storylines can, apparently, be taken very seriously. Together, we found joy in the little things: two-stepping nights, traveling anywhere with good food, spontaneous adventures, and eventually hot air ballooning, which Robbie enthusiastically adopted into his life. Somewhere along the way, “What a time to be alive” became less of Robbie’s life motto and more of a summary of our relationship. But the best part of our story has been how naturally our lives fit together. As a single mom, Brianna was always protective about who she brought into their lives, but when Robbie met Dominic, everything just clicked. Between their shared obsession with John Cena, Air Bud movie marathons, and endless conversations about rockets, space, and baseball, the two quickly became best friends. Robbie has a special gift for listening to Dom talk endlessly about the things he loves, and watching their bond grow made Brianna fall even harder. We also realized our story had been connected long before we met. We’re both San Diego kids from Navy families, sharing so many of the same childhood memories, running down Imperial Beach Pier and stopping at the balloon machine by the exchange on base. San Diego has always felt like home, which makes it the perfect place to start this next chapter together. We like to say third time’s the charm. But truthfully, this love just feels right, steady, fun, effortless, and real.
