Both of us had a best friend (who are now a part of our bridal party) that kept telling us about "Hinge." After months of listening to them, we happened to decide to join around the same time. After a few weeks on the site (and right before Bri was going to delete the app), we came across each other's profile. We decided to meet in person at Benny Frank's in El Paso, Texas, where he ironically ordered an Alaskan white ale. What was supposed to be a one hour date, turned into five hours of endless conversation and we planned our second date for the next day. We spent the next couple of months together in El Paso and did seven months of long distance while Anthony was in Oklahoma. Anthony was PCS'd to Fort Wainwright in........ ALASKA. The COVID-19 pandemic did not make the move easy, but finally at the end of May we made our way to our first of many homes in the Last Frontier.
For Anthony's birthday weekend, we decided to stay at the Borealis Basecamp to enjoy a weekend of using the snow machines and watching the Northern Lights from our igloo (sadly the clouds decided to stay for the night). His sister, Hillary, had planned to visit that weekend so we figured it would be a perfect time to take a mini vacation. We arrived to our igloo and were getting settled for the night when both Anthony and Hillary suggested we enjoy some drinks by the camp fire. We had just finished our last drink when Anthony asked if I could stand next to him (he usually does this which is why I wasn't suspicious at all). We were about to walk back to our igloo when he said he needed to grab something (once again not thinking anything of it). I hear a faint "psst" so I turn around and find him down on one knee. "I know you knew this was coming but just to make sure, will you marry me?" Even though he was right, I was still very surprised and it was the easiest yes of my life!
