Aaron claims that they met during welcome week in August 2017, but Brianna has no memory of the meeting that week. Brianna claims the first time they met was a couple of weeks later when they were studying for their introductory biology course. The group told Brianna to go check Aaron into the study room, and Brianna asked them "how will I know which one is Aaron?" and the group assured her "you will know it is him, he is the kid wearing the bucket hat." After this Brianna and Aaron continued to study with the group, but after the LSU game in October, Aaron saw Brianna in the parking lot struggling to carry her and Kayla's stuff up to her room. So Aaron being the gentleman he is, he offered to help Brianna up to her room. Aaron stayed in her room talking to Brianna and Kayla until check-out time at 2 am, neither one of wanting to tell the other to leave. After that the rest was history!
Brianna and Aaron had always wanted both of their families present when they got engaged. With Aaron's new job in Maryville, TN an invitation to see his new apartment was the perfect excuse to get Brianna and her family to town. Aaron had a plan to take her family on a hike to see a beautiful waterfall that he found near his new home. Unknown to Brianna, Aaron's family had arrived earlier and had hiked to the waterfall first and were watching from their hidden viewpoint (Aaron and his mom had scoped out a place earlier in the week). Aaron had everything planned out and they hiked even though it looked like it would rain any minute; Brianna wondered if a proposal could be on the way because she had been instructed to bring a rain jacket just in case. On the way to the waterfall, they encountered some hikers who asked where they were from. Of course, Aaron said he was from Texas and they mentioned they just met another family who was also from Texas; Brianna was even more suspicious at this point. They kept hiking and once they reached the waterfall, Aaron directed Brianna to a rock so that pictures could be made before they hiked back down. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring and asked Brianna to be his wife. She was smiling and crying and she said YES. Then there was a "whoop" from higher up the trail and then Aaron's family appeared to congratulate and hug the newly engaged couple. Many pictures were taken and lots of smiling ensued.
