Groom
Brian grew up in Damascus, MD. In summers as a kid, he fondly remembers the hot days at the neighborhood pool and playing Mario Party, along with the cool evenings playing "kick the can" running between neighbors' houses (how patient our neighbors must have been)! Brian and his family attended (and still do attend) St Paul's Catholic Church, just a few minutes drive down the road. Brian and his siblings were actively involved in church affairs, from cleaning the Norris chapel occasionally to attending Montessori style religious education, Council of the Good Shepherd (also known as Atrium) - which his mother still teaches - and Vacation Bible School in the summers. Brian went to the University of Maryland Baltimore County to study history. After college, Brian lived with his parents while he discerned his career path. Eventually he would go back to graduate school to get his Master's in Social Work to become a health policy analyst. During those first few years back, however, he worked with some now amazing friends in digital archiving for Ancestry.com. He also started becoming more active at St Paul's through Bible studies (including with Stephanie's parents), book clubs, and local charities. When pandemic upended life as we knew it, Brian's life changed. In the absence of much taken for granted, Brian grew in deeper appreciation for his time at St Paul's, including daily and Sunday Mass. However, now Brian noticed someone he hadn't seen in a while...
Bride
So Stephanie grew up in Ijamsville but spent a fair bit of time in Damascus (at St. Paul’s) before moving to New Rochelle for college. From there she moved up to Buffalo, NY for 7 years before flying over to Madrid, Spain, where she lived for 2.5 wonderful years. After traveling a lot of the world, Stephanie came back to her hometown (thanks, pandemic!) and, to her surprise, fell in love with the boy on the other side of the aisle at Church…
Best Man
Brian's younger brother, David has always been a good listener, sweet, and caring towards others. Quick witted and stylish nowadays, as a child David was the object of affection of all the girls in the neighborhood (because he was such a cute lol boy!). Growing up, Brian and David shared a room together (surprisingly, they didn't kill each other!). In college and high school, they loved to catch up and play video games together, especially Call of Duty. As his only brother, Brian relied on David, among other family members, for life advice over the years and his opinion on anything from fashion to vacation destinations to great restaurants. Brian and David love to watch Washington DC sports games together, including the Commanders and the Nationals. They even went to see the Nationals win the pennant in the 2019 divisional playoff series together! As they both grow older, the adventures may change. But Brian is so very grateful and blessed to have his younger brother by his side.
Matron of Honor
As Stephanie’s older sister, Megan has known Stephanie her whole life… she has patiently put up with Stephanie stealing her clothes (and shoes!), makeup and accessories for practically as long as Stephanie was able to do so. Megan has been supportive of Stephanie’s many crazy endeavors - from being there with the scissors when Stephanie thought that it would be fun to switch up her hairstyle over spring break in freshman year of college to just casually waking up to train (for 6 months) and then run a marathon with Stephanie, in the neighborhood, during the pandemic! Ever so supportive, she’s also agreed to stand as Stephanie’s matron of honor… after a marathon, she figures it probably can’t be any harder than that, right?
Groomsman
Pat (on the left in photo) and Brian first met in driver's education in the summer of 2006. Chatting over slurpees, little did they know of their future friendship ahead! Pat and Brian became better friends through their college years when in Damascus - playing board games, talking long into the night, and spending time outdoors going in walks and hikes. Brian was even blessed to be a lector in Pat and Kirstin's wedding in January 2012! After Brian graduated from social work school, he lived together with Pat, Kirstin, and their other family and mutual friends in the 'Holler' (their apartment's name). Over the years living together they became best of friends - going to the gym or laundromat together, watching shows together, and planning fun apartment 'family meals' together. They're almost family nowadays! With Pat happily married for more than 10 years, Brian is so blessed to have Pat both as a groomsman and as a role model for a happy marriage.
Bridesmaid
Sometimes you find that person who, despite not being part of the family (and therefore forced being stuck with you), chooses to always be there - Meredith is that person in Stephanie's life. From Kindergarten on, Meredith and Stephanie have been friends. Even when different interests and activities pulled them in opposite directions they always seemed to find a way to stay close (thanks Girl Scouts and UHS Arts wing!). From the time Stephanie moved away in college, Meredith has always been the friend on the other side of the phone asking, "so... when are you moving back to MD?" To have a friend who remains so constant - even when an ocean away - is a blessing beyond words and so Stephanie was excited when Meredith agreed to be a bridesmaid at her wedding!
Flower Girl
Madeline is Brian's niece and, while she is only 3 months older than Emily, she has had a bit more experience walking down the aisle after having been a flower girl at her aunt's wedding in April of this year. Madeline loves all things pink and is a joy to be around! We love that Madeline will be bringing her (quite toothy) smile to our wedding as she makes her way down the aisle as one of our special flower girls!
Flower Girl
Emily is Stephanie's youngest niece - she is a big fan of woodland animals, blueberries and bubbles. She recently began walking (and promptly went from walking to running), so you may see her fly by you down the aisle (if she decides to go that way)! While we're not 100% sure if she'll decide she wants to go down the aisle or not, we look forward to having Emily be part of our big day!
Flower Girl Escort and Ring Bearer
Rebekah is far from new at walking down the aisle as a flower girl, so we knew that she would be the perfect choice to assist our young flower girls down the aisle and serving as our ring bearer! Rebekah is Stephanie's oldest niece and goddaughter - she is 7 years old (almost 8!) and loves playing outside and moving on the dance floor. She also shares Stephanie's love for ice cream! Brian and Stephanie are excited to have Rebekah as a part of their wedding ceremony!
