Obviously if you haven't seen the Liberty Bell you should go see the Liberty Bell. It's free, it's a bell, it's a piece of history. What's not to love?
Philly has a really great art museum, they have really interesting rotating exhibits, you can probably spend the whole day here and not see everything. Even more importantly, there's a bunch of steps some fictional guy used to run up and down to get super strong, and a cool statue of him outside. Put your football team's jersey on him!
My (Rachel's) favorite museum I've been to in Philly, the Mutter museum is a weird little museum of science & medicine. A bit macabre and not for anyone who's squeemish but very interesting!
If you want to see some art but don't have the brain power for a full museum day, the Magic Gardens are a great choice. A very unique, beautiful display of murals.
South street is probably the best place in Philly to just bop around a little bit. Lots of great weird little shops, restaraunts, and bars to drop in to!
If you only eat one meal in Philly we'd recommend you do it here. A little pricey, and you'll definitely need a reservation in advance, but the food is so excellent. Note in advance - it's a Thai restaraunt where you can't adjust the spice level, so if you're particular about that it might not be your thing!
Probably my (hi again, still Rachel) favorite restaraunt in the city. Casual French food, so so tasty, you'll want a reservation but can get one without too much difficulty, I love the Good King Tavern
Really great German style beer hall. They have a ton of outdoor space if it's nice and you want to hang out outside (here's hoping) and good food! If you are a part of a bigger group there is also, once again, a lot of space, so it might be a good place to have a meal if there are more than ten of you (I'm looking at you, Baders)
The first place we went after we got engaged and the waiter gave us some free ricotta!! Really delightful Italian restaraunt, BYOB if you drink so save some money, grab a bottle of wine, and eat some pasta
I'm so upset that I'm not eating pho from Pho 75 right now. Cash only, they only serve pho, if you are renting a car Uber here anyways because the parking lot gives me nightmares but the soup is worth every ounce of distress.
Philly Chinatown is really great to visit in general & there are tons of restaraunts you can't go wrong with, but our pick would be Sang Kee. Particularly if you like duck - it's in the name, but the duck is really good
The Barcade is a fun place if you want to drink a little but also have some activities. A bar with a bunch of arcade games - what's not to love!
OH man do I love Double Knot. The $75 tasting menu is an absolute steal, please do not go here the last night you are in town because this could easily feed you through the whole weekend. So vibey, so delicious, please get the brussel sprouts.
This is probably the best brunch place in Philly. You will have to wait if you want a table on a weekend. If you decide to do this, please text me, and your wedding gift can be standing in line on a Saturday morning so I can eat brisket huevos rancheros
