We met through mutual friends 9 years before we began dating. We debate over the precise occasion, but settled on the mutual memory of having met at our friend Mita's 21st birthday party. Our relationship grew organically and joyfully since. We would see each other at various celebrations and outings with friends, always shared laughs and a sense of deep comfort and friendship. Life always has a way of bringing things to fruition at the right moment - and only when we're ready. We were finally ready to start our relationship in December 2009. Our dear friend (looking at you, Agung) sneakily played matchmaker and instigated texts between us that suggested the other had romantic interests. Brian allegedly told Agung, "I want to bring her home to meet my mom." To which Niken said, "Huh? Okaaaaay...." Long story short, our first official date was on December 23, 2009, and the rest is history. Our friendship made the ups and downs of our relationship that must easier to bear, and that much sweeter to navigate. When all else fails.. we laugh. Together, at each other (mostly at Brian), with each other, always. We hold on to joy. And love. Always.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 “We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over.” - Ray Bradbury ”The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.” - Henry Miller “Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.” - Kurt Vonnegut “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” - Lao Tzu “Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness.” - George Sand “I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.” - Pablo Neruda “The ideals which have always shone before me and filled me with joy are goodness, beauty, and truth.” - Albert Einstein
We, together with our families, would be so honored to celebrate our union with you. We thank you for your friendship, love, and unconditional support throughout our journey together. The best is yet to come, and we are excited to embark on this next chapter with your blessings. See you soon!
