How we met

They say the best love stories rarely begin in spectacular ways. They don't start with fireworks or destiny written in the stars. Sometimes they begin where you least expect them. Because you never know where you'll meet the person who will walk beside you for the rest of your life. For Brian and Alejandra, it all began with an insurance inspection, a red Hyundai Sonata, and two people who had no idea how much they were about to change each other's lives. Before meeting in person, they had already spoken on the phone. Brian remembered Alejandra's voice and accent. He was curious to meet the woman behind that voice. Alejandra, meanwhile, expected another insurance estimator: older, serious, and boring. Instead, she opened the door and thought, "Wow... what eyes. He's the youngest estimator I've ever met." Years later, Brian would admit his first thought was much simpler: "She's really pretty." After introductions, Alejandra offered to help with the inspection. "It's okay, I've got it." To Brian, it was a normal response. To Alejandra: "How rude." Fortunately, that first impression lasted only until the conversation began. What should have been a quick discussion turned into hours of talking about family, dreams, and life. They discovered they both had unusual last names. Brian explained the Italian origins of Miloscia. Alejandra shared her second last name, Piernagorda, which literally translates to "Fatleg." Neither of them could stop laughing. Before they said goodbye, there was a moment neither would forget. A brief silence. Brian simply looked at her. He didn't say a word. But something changed. Neither knew it yet, but a new chapter had just begun. Since Brian had taught English in Korea, Alejandra asked him to help her practice English. Those "lessons" quickly became daily messages, endless phone calls, dinners, dates, and weekends together. One of their favorite memories was the Tulip Festival, where they wandered through fields of color, sharing stories, dreams, and plans for the future. As their relationship grew, they stepped into each other's worlds. Brian got to know not only the woman behind the job, but the artist. He helped at photography events, carried equipment, and watched her bring stories to life through her camera. Alejandra discovered Brian's world of video games and board games, things she had never experienced before. What were lifelong hobbies for him became new adventures for her. He represented a new language, new customs, and a completely different world. She taught him how to dance salsa. He taught her how to pronounce "bird," "beer," and "beard." Through laughter, mistakes, and endless encouragement, they learned something important: love is built in the little things. Neither tried to change the other. Instead, they expanded their worlds to make room for one another. Over time, two families, two cultures, and two lives began to come together. Then one ordinary dinner changed everything. Brian pulled out a ring. The tears came before the words. And through a smile she couldn't hide, Alejandra answered: "Yes." That night, they returned to the Space Needle, where their journey as a couple had officially begun, and celebrated everything that had brought them there. Because this was never just a love story. It was the story of two people who found each other when they least expected it. Of two cultures that learned to speak the same language. Of two lives that chose the same path. And now, here you are. Reading a story that began long before this day and is still being written. Today, we don't just want to celebrate our love. We want to share it. We want the people we love most to witness the promises we are about to make and the life we have chosen to build together. Thank you for being here. Thank you for being part of our story.
