Kristine and Brian met while she was visiting her childhood friend Nick out in Hawaii. Nick went to West Point with Brian, and they both ended up getting stationed together for a tough 3-year tour on Oahu. Nick introduced Kristine to Brian on her first night there during a "Welcome" party at a night club. Little did she know Brian would find a way to join every activity on Nick's itinerary over the next two days. First, Brian picked Kristine up the next morning to take her and a group of friends on a boat ride in Kaneohe Bay. After overhearing Nick's plan to take Kristine on a hike the following morning, Brian hinted that he would love to join them. At the crack of dawn the following day the three of them hiked the infamous Stairway to Heaven on Oahu, shared a "lovers delight" crepe at a nearby restaurant, and sealed the day watching the sunset on Mt. Tantalus with Kristine, Nick, and Nick's girlfriend. Brian sneakily asked for her number to text her photos from the hike earlier that day, and from that day on, not a single day went by that they didn't speak. Despite being over 2,500 miles apart, Brian and Kristine held out hope that they would eventually live close enough to realistically be able to date. A year later, Brian was stationed in Arizona, and after another year and a half he began his MBA at UCLA, finally living in the same state after three years of meeting. The rest is history!
Ever since watching the TV show "The OC" in high school, Brian always dreamt of living in Orange County, California and used that to his advantage to keep the proposal a surprise. Brian asked Kristine to keep February 1st open because he had a big Orange County day planned to explore his favorite place in the whole country. He planned a full day of activities, starting with a trip to the Irvine Zoo in the morning, then to a hot air balloon ride in the Irvine Great Park, followed by a stroll through Sherman Library and Botanical Garden, over to Pelican Hill Resort for coffee overlooking the water, and ending with watching the sunset on a lifeguard tower in Newport Beach. The last stop, however, was at the same lifeguard tower Kristine took Brian to during his first visit from Hawaii to California. As they sat watching the sunset, Brian shared how happy he was to have gone through this three year adventure with her, and how he knew from that very first weekend that he would be exactly where he was at that moment, sitting with the person he loved, in his favorite place, asking the most important question... "Kristine, will you marry me?!" At that moment her two friends, Amy and Anna, popped out from behind the lifeguard stand to capture the proposal, along with a surprise photographer that just happened to be sitting in front of them, capturing everything. As they watched the rest of the sunset, Kristine thought the day was over, but there was one more surprise in store. Brian told Kristine he made dinner reservations and that they would have to go back to the house to change. When she opened the door she was greeted by 30 of their closest friends to celebrate the big day as they kicked off their latest adventure!
