Getting There

Julie and Brian Wedding Celebration March 20, 2026 Evening Mz 43 Lot 13 Tiburones Street, Puerto Peñasco, SON, 83554 Mexico Playa Encanto, Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico (Enchanted Dreams on Google Maps) Puerto Penasco is about a 4-hour drive from Tucson or Phoenix. This does not include the wait for the border crossing at Lukeville, which can sometimes be long. It is also important to know that the border closes at 8 pm. I have confirmed that Hertz Rentals from the Tucson or Phoenix Airport will allow you to rent and go to Puerto Penasco with their Mexico Insurance. Cars entering Mexico do require Mexican Insurance. We use Sanborns. There are also some shuttle service companies from Tucson or Phoenix to Puerto Penasco. We always fill up on gas in Why, AZ about 25 miles north of the border. Passports are necessary, but visas are not. If you plan to take an animal, there have been recent changes to requirements. CDC has updated info on this.

Where to Stay

Puerto Penasco has many rentals available through VRBO and Airbnb. Our house will be in Playa Encanto. If you do not rent in Playa Encanto, we recommend Las Conchas, which is the nearby beach to Playa Encanto (across the estuary). There are also bigger hotels on the beach on the other side of town if that's your preference.
