Even though Jordan and Brian overlapped in their time at Seattle Pacific University for 3 years, it wasn't until nearly a decade later when they finally met. During their second season in a Christian Sports League while captaining opposing volleyball teams, Brian's team won their head to head match so quickly (Jordan's team had only 5 players that day) that the teams had enough time to play more games just for fun. Brian graciously volunteered to cross over the net to be the 6th player on Jordan's team. When Brian offhandedly mentioned after the match that his church held a weekly volleyball open gym, Jordan immediately jumped on the opportunity to invite herself and her teammates to it. Their first impressions of each other were so great that day that by the time they left the gym, both of them were secretly keeping their eyes on the other person. Over the next few weeks, Brian and Jordan started getting to know each other. With the encouragement of a mutual friend, Brian decided to pursue Jordan and ask her out on their first date. They quickly learned they had many shared interests and were involved in similar activities at their churches. It didn't take much longer for them to realize they had the makings of a life-long relationship.
Early on in their relationship, Jordan told Brian that she had never before been successfully surprised. Brian took this to heart and planned to pull off a surprise proposal that Jordan would always remember. With the assistance of a few friends, Brian managed to indirectly rearrange Jordan's schedule and coordinate a "double date" with another couple. After picking up Jordan for the supposed lunch, Brian suddenly pulled the car over at the Jose Rizal Bridge overlooking downtown Seattle because he "wanted to show her something." Once they were walking on the bridge, he asked Jordan to close her eyes and when she opened them, he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand! He asked her to marry him and she, of course, said yes. Cheers and screaming suddenly erupted from the other side of the road where a group of their friends had emerged from their hiding spot with flowers, balloons, and a toast of cider to celebrate. Finally, Brian whisked Jordan off to one last surprise: a celebratory lunch with both of their families! We are so grateful for each of you who have been a part of our lives. We hope you can join us as we celebrate the start of our new journey together!
