Brian's Story

I never would have thought that a required zoom lecture would have led to marrying the love of my life, but now I am here thanking UNC for putting on an Interprofessionalism class. The woman who DMed me on Instagram that day has turned out to be the most kind, loving, caring, and supportive partner that I could ever ask for. From the moment we met, I have felt happy and peaceful in Faith's presence especially during our Wednesday night Chick-fil-a dinners or our Marvel premiere viewings. Faith has consistently been my cheerleader through the highs and lows of medical school, residency applications, and ultimate frisbee tournaments. I cannot begin to express how much she means to me and I cannot wait to celebrate with family and friends as I get the privilege to call her my wife and life partner this upcoming April.

Faith's Story

When I moved to North Carolina in August of 2021, I was excited for all of the new things that were on their way. I was starting my Master's of Occupational Therapy program, exploring a new city and state, making new friends, and overall on my way to new experiences. I had been optimistic about eventually dating but found myself saying "I just think a whole new relationship would be overwhelming while starting grad school and settling in here." Lord knows how wrong I was. About 2 months into school, I met a really cute, witty, and talkative medical student via a required interprofessional zoom meeting. With some encouragement from my friends, I messaged him on Instagram to tell him how nice it was to meet him & asked him out off the bat. We went on our first date the next week and we've been together ever since. Brian never made my life overwhelming or difficult. Instead, he brought peace, safety, goofiness, fun, love, and warmth into each and every day and has continued to everyday since. I find Brad Paisley's lyrics popping into my head quite often... "and I thought I loved you then." It's cheesy, but totally true. I have found a new reason to love Brian more each moment I have been with him. I am so excited to get to call him my best friend and fiance, and soon I will get to call him my husband. I can't imagine a better life to live than with him by my side, eating Chick-Fil-A, watching all the shows and movies our brains can handle, hanging out with friends and family, and talking about our days being a Dr and an OT. What a happy life we have to live. Thank you for being part of the "official" start of our life together & reading the novel I just wrote :)

For all the days along the way
