How We Met

Tender Tinder

It's true. We are an online dating success story. Even more, we're a Tinder success story! We both swiped right and after some fun back and forth chatting, decided to meet for coffee on a Sunday morning in January. We both moaned that the only place for coffee was Starbucks, but agreed to meet there anyway. He was, of course, there 10 minutes early and she was, of course a few minutes late. When she found out he had only been in Augusta for a few days, she lightly suggested he HAD to go see the dam at full pool and surprisingly, he agreed. She drove, telling him more than once that her family really loved her and would find him if he did anything to her; and he rode, dutifully answering every single question and slowly breaking down the walls of her reserve with that gorgeous smile and the mention of "lobstah". The view of the dam was impressive, and indeed, everyone in town was there so it was difficult to find a place to park. When she said "let's get closer" and kicked off her black heeled boots and walked barefoot down the trail, he knew that this girl...and this time... were different.

The Proposal

02.23.2018

The proposal will not be found in the plot of some romance novel or movie, but it was perfectly perfect to us. Something that will be remembered always and with a smile every time.

The Wedding

We are so excited to share our special day with you at one of our very favorite places! The Savannah Rapids Park in Martinez, GA (just outside of Augusta) houses the head gates of the historic Augusta canal and offers picturesque views and multiple ways to enjoy nature. It was here, paddling down the canal in our kayaks, that we first began to see the possibility of a future of “us”. As a nod to our first meeting and one of our favorite things to do on our weekends together, we are planning a laid-back morning ceremony along the banks of the canal. Don’t worry, there WILL be coffee!! (And doughnuts!) We know that most of our treasured guests will have traveled a hefty way, and we want to be able to spend as much time as we possibly can with you! Stay tuned for plans for visiting before and after the ceremony. We are so thankful for the love you have shown us this far and we are honored that you would choose to join us for this special day! XOXO, Brian and Christy

Now That You’re Here

We wanted to make sure we gave our visiting friends and family as much information as possible to help you plan your trip. Check out the TRAVEL section of the site for our recommended places to stay. The hotels are listed in order of closeness to the venue. We checked out a lot of hotels and these are the ones we felt most comfortable recommending to you. Also, we want to let you know about The GEORGIA HOTEL TAX. In addition to the regular sales taxes, there’s a flat $5 tax that will be added (per night). So, if the advertised cost per night is $70, it will actually be $75. 😫 *GA HANDS FREE LAW went into effect on July 1, 2018 making it illegal to hold your phone while driving. For more information, check out this website http://www.headsupgeorgia.com/handsfree-law/ Also, be sure to check out the THINGS TO DO page! We’ve added links to all of our favorite things!
