Simply The Best

Sometimes, the universe has a remarkable way of aligning people’s paths and for us, that moment came in the most unexpected, yet magical of places: Orlando, Florida. Cast as vocalists for Viking Cruises, we met during rehearsals that would mark the beginning of not just a contract, but a lifelong journey together. We quickly formed a friendship that blossomed onboard the Viking Sea, as we sailed through the breathtaking coastal cities of the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas. From unforgettable excursions and performances to quiet moments and laughter shared at sea, our time together became filled with memories that laid the foundation of something truly special. Then, on January 3, 2017, our friendship took a heartfelt turn. After some persistent convincing, Brian agreed to go on a first date with Carver in the romantic city of Barcelona. With tickets in hand for the Hop-On Hop-Off bus, we explored the rich art, culture, and history of the city; experiencing the kind of connection that only deepens with time. Our nine-month contract gave us not only an extraordinary professional experience, but also the beginning of a love that would weather time and distance. Following the contract, our paths diverged geographically. Carver returned to NYC to pursue his passion for theatre, while Brian continued working with Viking, leading a life mostly at sea. For nearly five years, we navigated a long-distance relationship. Daily calls, spontaneous visits, and mutual commitment kept us connected, with cherished trips between Kalamazoo, Miami, New York City and aboard Viking ships. Through it all, we remained supportive and encouraging of one another's aspirations; not only were we partners, we were best friends too. In the summer of 2022, our next chapter began in the same place. Brian relocated to New York City, and after years of navigating time zones and ship schedules, we were finally home, together. Living in a New York City apartment (which, by the way, made our former crew cabin feel like great training), we embraced all the joys and growing pains of new jobs, new routines and shared dreams. We learned to make decisions as partners, to seek joy in simple moments and to continue creating a life full of laughter, love, and purpose. Then came August 4, 2024, a day we’ll never forget. Carver proposed to Brian in Astoria Park under a gentle summer rain and Brian said yes - of course he did, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this! We walked home, hearts full, brimming with joy. But Carver wasn’t finished yet, he had secretly organized a surprise engagement party, filling our one-bedroom apartment with nearly 40 beloved friends and family. It was a celebration of love, community and the life we’ve built together. If you’ve made it this far, it’s probably because you love us and, we love you too! Throughout our lives, we’ve been surrounded by people who have lifted us up, supported our dreams and loved us unconditionally. We are endlessly grateful to each and every one of you for being part of our journey. We got married in New York City on January 31st, 2026 and it was truly the most magical day.
