The Wedding Website of Carrie Sparkes and Brian Swartz
Middlebury is great town to explore for a day or venture out for local adventures. You can eat and drink your way through town, or stop in a number of great shops on Main Street. We think the College is also pretty beautiful for a stroll, but we're biased. There are more hikes, berry farms, breweries and distilleries than you can possibly hit up in a weekend just outside of town.
Hike & Swim - Lake Dunmore

Hike & Swim - Lake Dunmore

3570 Lake Dunmore Road, Salisbury, VT 05733

Lake Dunmore is simply the best. (20 min drive) You can hike up to Silver Lake (1 hour out and back) or Rattlesnake Cliffs (2 hours out and back) followed by a dip in the lake and you'll be refreshed and ready to dance the night away.

Hike - Buck Mountain

Hike - Buck Mountain

388 State Route 66, Vergennes, VT 05491

A Sparkes' family favorite! (15 min drive) This moderate 40 minute hike is perhaps the best bang for the buck in the Champlain Valley! The trail through the woods is beautiful and the view over the farms and lake beyond is spectacular. (Walk past the first trailhead and take the second option on the left and your feet will stay nice and dry)

Hike or Run - Trail Around Middlebury

Hike or Run - Trail Around Middlebury

Trail Around Middlebury, Weybridge, VT 05753

Looking for something closer to town? A 5 minute walk from your hotel puts you on "The TAM" and while we don't recommend trying to do the whole thing the morning of (~17 miles in full) there are some great sections, including Carrie's favorite - running repeats up Chipman Hill!

Hike- Snake Mountain

Mountain Road, Addison, VT 05491

This trail is 4.9 miles round trip and the view at the top into the Champlain Valley is gorgeous! The trail is well traveled so you shouldn't get lost!

Charlotte Berry Farm

4702 Ethan Allen Highway, Charlotte, VT 05445
, (802) 425-3652

Pick your own! (30 min drive) Family farm featuring great summer berries and, of course, creemees!

Breakfast - Middlebury Bagel Deli

Breakfast - Middlebury Bagel Deli

11 Washington Street, Middlebury, VT 05753

A local staple (5 min walk) for a bacon-egg-and-cheese on house-made bagels to start your day. Cash only. (We're in VT, remember...)

Lunch - Costello's Market

Lunch - Costello's Market

99 Maple Street, Middlebury, VT 05753

Best sandwiches and prepared foods anywhere. Not that you'll need a huge lunch on Saturday, but this is a can't miss place (sadly closed on Sundays).

Lunch- Noonies

Lunch- Noonies

137 Maple St, Middlebury, VT 05753, Middlebury, VT 05753

This is another town favorite for lunch. You can't go wrong with Purple's pleasure or a Vermonter. Its also located in the Marbleworks right next to Flatbread- the location for the welcome event. There are awesome picnic tables out front to sit and eat outside!

Middlebury Farmers' Market

Middlebury Farmers' Market

530 Exchange Street, Middlebury, VT 05753

Saturday morning favorite (2 minute drive) The local food scene is incredible and the Farmers Market reflects this. Local crafts and specialty foods for sale as well as all the beautiful local produce you'd expect.

Creemees!!

Creemees!!

54 College St, Middlebury, VT 05753

If you haven't experienced Vermont's take of frozen-yogurt, try out any number of the local Creemee stands. Creemee aficionados each have their preference, but the window at Middlebury Market is typically bustling on a summer afternoon and you can't go wrong.

Vermont Cookie Love

Vermont Cookie Love

6915 Rte 7, Ferrisburgh, VT 05473
, (802) 425-8181

If you're coming to Middlebury from Burlington, you have to make this stop on your way. The cookies and soft serve ice cream, or creemies, are THE BEST!
