Lake Dunmore is simply the best. (20 min drive) You can hike up to Silver Lake (1 hour out and back) or Rattlesnake Cliffs (2 hours out and back) followed by a dip in the lake and you'll be refreshed and ready to dance the night away.
A Sparkes' family favorite! (15 min drive) This moderate 40 minute hike is perhaps the best bang for the buck in the Champlain Valley! The trail through the woods is beautiful and the view over the farms and lake beyond is spectacular. (Walk past the first trailhead and take the second option on the left and your feet will stay nice and dry)
Looking for something closer to town? A 5 minute walk from your hotel puts you on "The TAM" and while we don't recommend trying to do the whole thing the morning of (~17 miles in full) there are some great sections, including Carrie's favorite - running repeats up Chipman Hill!
This trail is 4.9 miles round trip and the view at the top into the Champlain Valley is gorgeous! The trail is well traveled so you shouldn't get lost!
Pick your own! (30 min drive) Family farm featuring great summer berries and, of course, creemees!
A local staple (5 min walk) for a bacon-egg-and-cheese on house-made bagels to start your day. Cash only. (We're in VT, remember...)
Best sandwiches and prepared foods anywhere. Not that you'll need a huge lunch on Saturday, but this is a can't miss place (sadly closed on Sundays).
This is another town favorite for lunch. You can't go wrong with Purple's pleasure or a Vermonter. Its also located in the Marbleworks right next to Flatbread- the location for the welcome event. There are awesome picnic tables out front to sit and eat outside!
Saturday morning favorite (2 minute drive) The local food scene is incredible and the Farmers Market reflects this. Local crafts and specialty foods for sale as well as all the beautiful local produce you'd expect.
If you haven't experienced Vermont's take of frozen-yogurt, try out any number of the local Creemee stands. Creemee aficionados each have their preference, but the window at Middlebury Market is typically bustling on a summer afternoon and you can't go wrong.
