Our story begins when two NYU juniors boarded a bus to Winchester, England, while studying abroad, 3,450 miles from New York City. On that fateful day, the two students locked eyes and began their love story. Brian and Ansley embraced the magic of London together by dancing in the snow, exploring castles, ice-skating in Hyde Park, and having a pint or two in a pub. Amid the flurry of dates, they realized that they had found something special. When Brian returned to New York and Ansley continued her study abroad in Tel Aviv, they knew long-distance wasn't ideal, but they took a chance. Despite being 5,670 miles apart and separated by seven hours, the couple persevered, talking on FaceTime every day and even coordinating an eight-hour meet-up in Barcelona. Upon Ansley’s return to the US, Brian welcomed her back to her hometown of Houston. The couple then spent the next year together in New York City, where they studied, explored, and ate their way through the city. Their time as NYU students came to an end, and they embarked on their own career journeys. Ansley remains in NYC, pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at Columbia, while Brian moved to Texas for his management role at Amazon. Again, they are met with distance, 1,601 miles to be exact, but soon there will be no more goodbyes or virtual date nights. They look forward to the day they can finally say “chega de saudade,” just as the iconic Brazilian song goes. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate the start of forever with you!
