Brian and Allison first met at a mutual friends’ wedding, seated at a table full of “misfit” friends of the bride and groom. In true millennial fashion (and with a little help from pineapple High Noons and egging on from her best friend), she found him on Facebook, sent a friend request, and followed it up with a message. Over the next month, they exchanged occasional messages. After some health concerns on Allison’s end, she shared her phone number, and in early December, Brian reached out to ask her to grab a drink. Allison asked for a rain check while she studied for her psychologist licensure exam—but after the holidays, she followed up to take him up on it. Brian happened to be in town looking at a house, so Allison drove down to Akron to meet him for a drink at Mr. Zubbs. Brian swears he could see the disappointment on Allison’s face when he suggested it—though she was far too polite to say otherwise. They ended the night with drinks at the local dive bar, Quarter Up.
