Brian was very sad and very lonely. He had spent most of his life living out a desperate, dark country song. Acacia had all but given up on finding a decent human being to share her life with and was slowly becoming a hermit. Mutual friends alerted these sad saps of each other’s presence, and after several random and sporadic social interactions, Brian mustered up enough courage to invite Acacia and her children over for a game night. Seems innocent enough, right? Well, Acacia wasn’t so sure she wanted to date a ding-dong daddy, and Brian was concerned that Acacia was too young. But that didn’t stop him. He invited Acacia out on the town to be entertained by his very own honky-tonk band, a prospect that thoroughly frightened and confused Acacia. Alas, as she watched Brian up on that stage in his Willie Nelson wig, standing as still as a statue as he sang sad songs about being an alcoholic, Acacia knew right there and then she could learn to love this beast. As for Brian, he knew that for the rest of his life and for a small fee, he would love Acacia more than a friend. And that’s how it began.
