To bypass quarantine in Hawaii and ensure easy entrance to their island, travelers must have a negative covid test result from from a trusted partner no more than 72 hours BEFORE beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test result or U.S. vaccination PRIOR to departure must quarantine upon arrival. The negative test result must be uploaded onto Safe Travels or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawai‘i.

Once you create your Safe Travels Hawai‘i account, you will next need to enter your traveler information and trip details on the program’s application form. Travelers ages five and older and who choose not to participate in the vaccination exception program will be required to take a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab in order to bypass the State of Hawai‘i’s 10-day mandatory quarantine. Once you have created your account and entered your trip information, you will need to complete the mandatory health questionnaire – it will be available in your account 24 hours prior to departure. Upon completing the form, a QR code will be emailed to you. Prior to boarding or when you deplane in Hawai‘i, you will be asked to present your QR code and your negative test result to airport personnel either on paper or on your mobile phone, along with a legally valid photo ID. BRING PRINTED COPY OF NEGATIVE COVID TEST AS WELL
Until July 8, 2021, only travelers who have been fully vaccinated in Hawai‘i can receive a vaccine exception. Beginning July 8, any traveler who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the United States or U.S. Territories will be eligible for the quarantine exception. This means two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson and Johnson plus 15 days after the last dose. Travelers will need one of the following vaccination records as proof* of vaccination: A CDC COVID-19 vaccination card VAMS (Vaccine Administration Management System) printout or certificate DOD DD Form 2766C. *No other forms or documents of proof of vaccination will be accepted to participate in the Vaccination Exception Program.
