Our Love Story

Our story began many years ago, we just didn’t know it.

In 2010, two young middle schoolers crossed paths at Edward Harris. Briana would be leaving band class just as Lejon was walking in. We never spoke, just had mutual friends and knew of each other from a distance. Not long after, Bri moved away to a new school district and later attended Laguna Creek High School. Junior year of high school, here came this new kid, Lej. He hung out with a mutual friend group, a boys group called “Squallay,” while Bri had a girls group called “The Five.” We know… cringe, it was cool back then. Our two groups constantly hung out, sharing summers and groups chats together. Through it all, Bri and Lej had a completely platonic friendship. Life kept moving, Bri moved to San Francisco for college, and years passed by. One day, Bri posted an Instagram picture, and Lej swiped up with fire emojis. Bri brushed it off with a simple “thank you” and a smiley face, assuming it was just a compliment from a friend. A few days later, a mutual friend said, “Hey, Lejon was asking about you, saying what’s up with Bri? She’s been looking good.” Briana’s immediate response was, “Oh, hell nahh. Absolutely not.” We laughed it off and kept it moving. A year passed by, Bri had to return home due to covid. Lej noticed and asked if she would be willing to be the video girl for his upcoming music video. Bri thought it sounded fun, so she said yes. So, we started hanging out again, going to parties and reconnecting as friends. Then came the shoot for “Do You Want Me.” In one scene, Lej fake kissed Bri before cutting the shot with his hand. He posted the clip for optics and clickbait, and suddenly everyone started asking the same question: “Are y’all together?” We laughed it off and said we were just friends. Apparently, there was just a little too much chemistry for people to believe that. The music video ended, but Lej kept calling, and Bri kept answering. One phone call turned into two, then three, and before we knew it, we were staying on the phone until the sun came up. Somewhere in those late-night conversations, we realized we were not fooling anyone but ourselves. Bri still believes this was Lejon’s plan all along. So we decided to give it a try. Our first date was simple, a walk and lunch in Midtown. Three months later, Lej planned a trip to Reno. Over dinner, lej asked Bri to be his girlfriend. From there, we went through life together. Growing individually and as a couple while navigating major life changes. Most importantly, we began building our relationship on the firm foundation of Christ, allowing Him to guide our relationship and become Lord over our lives. Eventually, Bri moved to Texas to pursue her master’s degree. It was not easy. Long distance came with challenges, constant flights, different time zones, and moments where we genuinely did not know if everything would work out. An opportunity presented itself, where Lej had to make a decision. He could stay in Sacramento, move with his parents to Georgia, or move on his own to Texas. Logically, the first two options made the most sense, but Lej felt a calling from the Lord “Go, move to Texas, this will be your wife.” So, he did exactly that! He moved to Texas, started a new job and got his first apartment. A sacrifice made to continue building our life together. Just two Californians navigating Texas together and growing a community. On May 10, 2025, Lej got down on one knee and asked Bri for her hand in marriage. And now, here we are. Planning our wedding and preparing to celebrate our love with all of our family and friends. Till this day, we have a running joke with each other: “Wow you’re really that girl from Laguna.” “And you’re really that boy from Laguna.” Both going through life wondering who our person would be. Little did we know, God was up there smiling, waiting for us to realize our person was always right there in front of us. However, only when the time was right, he would allow us both to see. 🤍
