JC and Briana met at North Point Young Adults in 2022. Briana started attending in May, and JC had already been attending for over a year. Briana met some amazing girls at NPYA she started hanging out with, and JC happened to be in their friend group. The first several months Briana started going to NPYA, she had no interest in dating any of the guys there. Things changed in 2023.. On 12/30/2022, a group of friends from NPYA went to Six Flags. It was this day that JC and Briana talked a lot and really got to know each other, marking the beginning of their friendship. JC made it happen that he was Briana's ride buddy on just about every single ride they went on. Briana's family & grandma were also at the park that day, so JC got to meet them all at the end of the day.. to Briana's surprise he wasn't scared off. :) The following week, Briana tried asking a bunch of people from NPYA to go hiking on that Saturday, and as it turned out JC was the only person who could go. That hiking day JC and Briana did more than 7 miles of hiking, were learning more about each other, and had the best time, although this was still not considered a date. Fast-forward to the national championship when UGA won (Go Dawgs!), JC called Briana that night to ask her out on a date. Briana politely declined and said she wanted to just be friends, and wasn't looking to date. Thankfully this didn't ruin their friendship, and JC and Briana continued to hang out in group settings. The next weekend a group from NPYA went to hike Mount Yonah, and of course JC and Briana talked a majority of the time again. After this hiking trip, Briana was talking to some of her friends and said that she would consider going on a first date with JC. This is where our matchmaker, Emmett, comes into play. Emmett talked to JC and encouraged him to ask Briana out again after the next NPYA gathering. JC asked Briana out, and she said yes! Their first date was at the end of January, and JC picked Briana up and brought her to Surcheros, Dave & Buster's, and to Cookout afterwards for milkshakes where they sat in JC's car and watched clips from Veggie Tales, were laughing and continuing to get to know each other. JC dropped Briana off at her house that night and was confident in having a second date, but he didn't know Briana started second-guessing, and the following week she told JC again that she just wanted to be friends. Again, JC being the kind human he is, allowed their friendship to continue. They continued to hang out with NPYA friends, and go to Truck and Tap for music bingo on Wednesdays. In mid-February, JC asked Briana out again after music bingo a night, and she again told him no and that she just wanted to be friends. It was at this point JC realized 3 strikes and you're out, so he decided to be done trying to pursue Briana, and that they would just stay friends. After the first NPYA in March, Briana started realizing she missed talking and hanging out with JC as much, and was debating telling JC she wanted to go on some more dates with him. That Friday she asked to talk to him before they went to get pizza and watch Outer Banks with Maggie, and Briana told him that she liked him and wanted to go on a few more dates. JC excitedly agreed, and said he'd love to go on some more dates with her. They started dating, and JC asked Briana to be his girlfriend on March 8, 2023 (hence the wedding date!!). Our love story is funny to look back on, but we wouldn't change a thing. Those 3 months of figuring out if we should date, we were surrounded and encouraged by incredible people, many of whom will be standing by our side on our wedding day. God was orchestrating an amazing love story and working on us individually during our time of not dating or knowing each other, so our relationship together would have a firm foundation centered around Christ. We are so very thankful for each of you who have had such an amazing impact on us at some point throughout our lives!
