How We Met

It all started with a trip to India

In 2017 I was prepping for a missions trip with my church to visit an amazing organization called India Gospel League. Since I was going so far, I needed to raise some money to attend the trip. I was posting about it on Facebook, Instagram, and everywhere I could to raise money. After checking it one day, I noticed that a guy named Brian made a donation. I recognized his name but couldn’t put it together. It turns out that we were following each other on Instagram for some time since we had tons of friends in common. One of them being my own sister. I asked her how she knew him and she said that they had a class in middle school together and Brian was one of her only friends. So after getting such a generous donation, I had to send a thank you/nice to meet you message to this kid. Days went by of messaging back and forth when I finally had the courage to ask to hang out before I left for India. We spent 8 hours outside a Starbucks talking about everything. He was kind, cute, and funny. I was immediately smitten. Since I was leaving so soon, we saw each other almost every day. My family hosted a little party for me the night before I left with all of my closest friends. Brian clicked so well with everyone. This was a major plus. Fast forward a little: I’m in India and Brian has been flooding my phone everyday with encouraging texts to comfort me about being so far away from home. I have the time of my life in India, but I’m stoked to come back home and see him again. Fast forward a little more and bam he’s my boyfriend. Over the past two years we’ve learned so much about each other. I’ve fallen in love with him more and more every day. His generosity didn’t stop with my missions trip. Not only does he spoil me, he spoils my family, his friends and even strangers. I am so beyond lucky to have him by my side. Words cannot describe it. -Carissa

The Proposal

The Most Nerve-Wrecking Day of my Life.

It all started in August of 2018, I was at the mall grabbing some new clothes for work. I stopped by Kay Jeweler just to peak in and see some prices on some different rings. I browsed around until I found a ring I saw that I knew Carissa wouldn’t turn down. I spoke to the sales rep and we started making payments towards it. Fast forward to December 15th 2018, this morning was the most nervous morning of my life. I had planned so much for the day, but the weather forecast was not in my favor. I reached out to one of her closest friends Cortney Lopez to start the day with a double date to an escape room. She agreed and gave me all sorts of tips and advice on what to do after to get the proposal perfect. We went to the escape room and had a perfect time with friends, after the escape room I was going to take her on a walk down by the intercostal at one of our favorite spots. The spot was right down by Flagler museum where we had one of our first dates. I was nervous as can be and I needed water cause my throat was dry and I felt like I was gonna die on spot. So we went to the Publix a mile down the way. I sneak off to get a water and I come back to Carissa hands deep in a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos. In my head I’m thinking “Oh shit she’s gonna get the ring all cheesy.” So we go on with it and we are walking down by the intercostal and she just looks absolutely breathtaking with the sun setting in the background. I got down on one knee with the ring out and asked her “please” as I couldn’t speak any other words; due to my lack of being able to speak properly during anxious situations. She told me yes! We then went back to the house we were living in and we had all her friends and family waiting for her to help her celebrate her big day! -Brian
